What a cool lottery ticket - I counted up the diamonds and see 1 - looked at the top to see what it was worth and couldn't find the payout for 1 diamond - did I miss something (or just the $2 cost of the ticket)?
It definitely would be cooler if it had 10 diamonds - but probably 1 in a billion chance of that
Gawhd I hate those things. They advertise false odds of winning and rack it in for the state. Its a voulintary tax.
You never see the proposed programs get any of the money. If they did ,every student in ever school would have they own state-of-the-art computer system, donated by the school, and ever elder person would get free medicines. And the list goes on.They generate billions in revenue ....all for the lotter commission. Its sickening.
One company, the world-leader in the scratch-off tickets, was majorly embarassed when some guy in Asia cracked the barcode code to find out which tickets were winning tickets- served them right!
The only way to win the lottery is not to play. You need to take the 2 hour drive south on the GS Parkway and play the tables when you turn 18. You have a much better chance of winning there. Its also alot more fun.
I remember back in the early 80's when Godfather's Pizza had a similar scratch off game. It had 8 slices of pizza and each slice could be scratched off to reveal a number. If you uncovered three "7"s (and every card had exactly three 7's) without uncovering any other numbers, then you could scratch off the bottom of the ticket and reveal one of about 10 different prizes.
What the designer failed to realize was, if you uncovered the prize first, and you had and old card with the same prize where all the slices were uncovered, then you knew exactly where the three sevens were because they only changed location when the prize was different!!! Needless to say, that game didn't stay around too long, but I did get quite a few free pizzas before they pulled it!

It'll be more than 2 hours... but if I make All State Chorus, I get to go for free
Dan, McDonalds got into a tough spot with scratch offs in 1984. They created a scratch off game for the 84 Olympic summer games. You would win based on the sport you scratched off in combo with US athelete's performance. US gold medals won free sandwiches, silver medals won side dishes (fries, pies) and bronze won drinks. Of course, they had calulated the odds of the US winning in each event, and set up the distribution accordingly. What they failed to take into account was that the Russians would boycott the games, and the US medal count was 3x expected. In fact, some sports where the Russians were a lock for a sweep, the US took all 3 medals. A friend at mine who worked at McDonalds gave me a 3 inch thick stack of cards that summer. The next Fall when I was a freshman at college, I had free McDonalds sandwiches any time I wanted. This promotion must have been a big financial hit for McDonald's.
OK, no coin info, but on topic for the thread.

Tom, I remember the McDonald's one now that you mention it! I guess the "players" aren't the only ones who can lose when it comes to lottery type games.
McDonalds seems to have real problems with scratch-off games. Back in the mid 70's when the Atari games first came out they had a scratch off that had as prizes food or Atari games. You had to scratch off three good spots without getting "hit" with a bad one. I learned how to "x-Ray" them and could select only the winning spots. Then a few years ago they had a Disney Trivia game scratch off where you uncovered a question with three choices for the answer. You then scratched off the spot corresponding to the answer you chose and if you were right you won a prize. Some enterprising soul set up a website that collected all of the questions and correct answers. It had the answers to something like 1950 of the 2000 trivia questions posted on it.

Tops, did the same thing with "Gold" card in the late 80's. If you took the cards and put them up to a VERY bright light you could see through and win a free gold card. I had almost a complete set.

I'll stick to buying raw on eBay for my lottery.
