How eBay and SQUARE Trade cover up fraud

Building Trust in Transactions (tm)

Square Trade Member Rip-Off

So where is the Square Trade Logo?

If you view the HTML Source code you see

<img src="http://seals.squaretrade.com/cE091/883129636.gif" alt="Building Trust in Transactions (tm)" border=0 width="176" height="56">
<a href="http://seals.squaretrade.com/cET091/883129636.map"

However, once their Square Trade member skips out with $90,000 they magically turn off his logo so nobody will bother them with claims.

I got ripped on a $27 item by a Square Trader, the second they naru'd him the square trade logo magically disappeared. I had already printed off a copy of the auction and I suggest to everyone that they do the same. I sent the scumbag an email, telling him I was notifying the postal authorities and FBI in Miami in a week. Amazingly a refund money order showed up. Forget about ebay and square trade, just another pile of advertising horse crap.

    Dakra-

Thanks but Eddy is already negoiating with the police to provide refunds and avoid arrest.
He's moved his family out of state because of all the threats from his ebay victims. The FBI and postal inspectors don't seem to care much.

He's still about $40,000 short so it doesn't look good. The dectective in charge of the case says he'll get an arrest warrant this week.

The only communication I received from eBay was because the police requested a list of all his victims. eBay is too busy covering their tracks.

Square Trade is a big of a joke as Safe Harbor anyway. They limit their liability to $1000 per member

  • I guess what I don't understand is... he seemed like a good ebayer until Dec/Jan. Was there a reason he couldn't deliver the goods? Was he trying to scam people? Anyone know?

What is Square Trade and what exactly does it mean as far as buyer protections.

I'm guessing goldlira was selling stuff he didn't have yet -> gold drifted up in Nov/Dec from $310 to $355 and by the time he got the cash, it cost him more to get what he already sold - eventually got further and further behind.

Yeah, I believe Eddy was more of a dullard than a con.

He created his own futures market with other peoples money and when the market turned against him he couldn't fill his orders.

But if that was the case quick refunds would have been in order, so I'm sure Eddy has some other money troubles as well.

Square Trade is a marketing ploy eBay uses to give buyers a false sense of security that they'll re-imburse a bidder. But when you read the fine print it's pretty worthless. I could get $12 for my $712 if I pay their $25 fee.

But they have a good plan to hide out when their clients do a rip-off.

Out of 800 transactions I've had 3 people try and rip me off. The first one I had to tell Mom & Dad, the 2nd one I told my credit card company and now I had to tell the police.
