POLL - 1994 SAEs-White spots vs. Grade

What is the affect of white spots on grade from professional services?

    LC,

if there's a solution for this i'd love to hear it.

    1 Tassa-slap
    2 Cam-Slams!
    1 Russ POTD!
  • Of couse they affect the grade, even though they were/are in/on the platchet. Its like copper streaks on pennies in a way.

I believe these spots should be considered in the grade. However, here is evidence that at least in the case for this coin they were not. This is the ugliest SAE that I own but it still made the grade at PCGS.

  • WOW, that is bad. Was it slabbed when you got it or did you have it done?

I bought it slabbed at a local show. I needed a 1994 for the registry set and was not going to pay the $250+ they were going for so I got this real cheap to fill the hole in my set.

Do you mean that there were other 69's around but you chose this coin and low balled because of spots?

FatMan, that coins would be lucky to make MS66 today.

PCGS seemed to knock my white spotted SAE down 2+ full points.
