Rainbow Toned Liberty "V" Nickel (Legend' Coin)

Just came across this coin on the Legend Coin Web Site. You don't usually find these with true colors - just the standard gold. This one is a stunner.

And if you want the coin, too late. It is "on hold" (not by me). It's an NGC MS65 and was priced at $1850.

    If its nice and you REALLY like it " buy it " sure beats laying awake wishin you had, PLUS you will never forget or FORGIVE YOURSELF for letting it get away-and remember you can always pedel it to regain most of $ . Just one of many of " buying politics I utilize.
    Besides I really lost sleep and beat myself up yo learn this simple procedure !~!

    Gonna have to go against the popular opinion here. That reverse is hidious, IMO. And, believe it or not, I've seen nicer obverses on V nics. Oh well, to each his/her own.

    I've got to agree with Jom on this one. I'm not crazy about it either. Looks like some dirt or crust around the stars.

    Originality. NEVER played with. Nice color.
    Those are qualities tough to find on a Liberty nickel and it's a pleasure to see one when it becomes available.

    I wouldn't pay any premium for it. This toning does nada for me. But, since every deeply toned piece is not just like another, to each their own.

    This is a coin for the tone specialist.

    It is certainly not for everyone. I am sure that legend would be the first to say so too.

    I just checked and that is exactly what they said!!!

    The nicest business strike Liberty Nickel I've ever seen was a beautifully toned PCGS 6 that went for just over $2,400 with commission at the Superior auction last May - June. Every Liberty Nickel enthusiast was salivating like Pavlov's dogs when he / she saw that coin.

    I agree w Jom re this coin. Without intending to offend, there is too much carbon for my taste and maybe it's the imaging, but the reverse doesn't have the magic that is on the obverse ( to be kind).

    I'm not that impressed by the reverse (or the pricetag, for that matter) but that obverse is spectacular.

    Doesn't do much for me either. I have 4 that are raw that are nicer looking than this one, probably 2 are AT but they still look better.

    I agree that the reverse isn't that hot, but you don't often see Liberty nickels with real colors.

    As for KlectorKid's choice of a Liberty gold piece. Sorry, but that design does nothing for me - even in DCAM.
