How do you post a picture here?

I just received my camera this week and would like to post a picture. I tried the attachment, but the photo is too large. Do I need an imagehost? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you would need an image host to post it in the body of the message. Attachments can be up to 50K. How large is the scan? You can resize it using Microsoft Paint. Just go in to "Image" and than "Stretch/Skew", and enter the percentages you'd like to shrink it.

Depending on your ISP, you may have some upload space on the internet. (on AOL for example, you can go to keyword 'ftp' and click on "see my ftp space". Upload your pictures there.) Then you can click on the picture button when you're posting and type in the location of the image. If you don't have anywhere to upload a photo, then your ISP sucks (even worse than aol) but you can try imagestation or some other image hosting service.

I will try to reduce the image. I never thought of doing that. I can mess anything up on my computer. Stay tuned, as the photo is worth the wait. Thanks for the help.

If you want you can email it to me and I'll host it for you.
  • I would like to publicly acknowledge here all the help I got from robertpr when I was trying to learn how to post images and do some other things on this forum. He sent me some e-mails that I printed out and still refer to today.

Aside from coins, I have learned a lot about the techno side of the computer world on this board. Well, a lot for me. I thank you all for that.

But, Robert-- you really did me a good turn. And I want you to know that I appreciate the time it took to drag me kicking and screaming into the present. Thank you.
