NGC slabs graded by PCGS? View thread

I know some people don't go to the Set Registry forum much and wanted to post an important thread being discussed since it has to do with PCGS grading NGC slabs and attaching a sticker to them. Vote and post thoughts there.

I am opposed to the whole Registry set concept for many reasons that are too numerous to list. I voted no for primarily that reason, however, if NGC coins are accepted with the appropriate PCGS "sticker" why then should ANACs, ICG or other services be excluded from this if PCGS CONFIRMS or CHANGES THE GRADE to reflect the PCGS opinion as to the coin's grade? A vote to allow NGC slabbed coins should be considered a vote for ANACs as well as IGC slabbed coins to be considered as well. The bottom line is...where does all of this end? Or does it? Just some thoughts...

They shouldn't be excluded either - but thanks for voting no since you don't participate in the Registry anyway! image

Wow! One of the reasons why I don't bother with the Registry anyway. Yeah, another is that I don't have "huge" coins, and if I did, I really don't think I'd need PCGS or anyone else to acknowledge them.

Someone posted "no one has to play," to demonstrate that if you are against the sticker theory, not to play - this to support changing the current rules so "they can play."

Someone posted they voted yes just for TDN and Cardinal. It is apparent that their collections are relatively well known w/o the ranking they're seeking.

NGC already allows the inclusion of both. I guess that makes the bottom line that there is a perception that the PCGS Registry is more prestigious than the NGC Registry.

If you believe that, why make them equivalent? If you don't, have the satisfaction of owning your position in the NGC Registry, and leave the PCGS Registry, well PCGS.

I am more impressed with the collections themselves and not where they rank in the Registry, but, even though you may be tempted to reply that it matters not whether I am impressed -- who is it that you are trying to impress. Come on, rank is all about ego, and if you can't admit that, then what is the point?
