Not exactly the best strike in the world... but looks pretty clean. I'll say MS62, either that or an AU55... I really have a hard time telling what is strike and wear sometimes.

On second look, that does look like wear... I stand by my AU55.

I don't know if it's just the pic or my eyes, but it looks like an impaired proof to me. I am going to take a stab at PR35

    MS64.

It really looks like a weak strike rather than wear. I'd assume such a weak strike would keep it out of MS65 condition.

Yup, weak strike in my opinion. 61?

  • I'm impressed. Personally, I would have thought AU50 (obverse looks sick). NGC says weak strike. I don't like weak strike coins and I have no idea why I even bought it (it's why I don't like peace and franklins). I keep it hidden away. image

I was right with my first guessimage. I never cared for weak struck coins either. Look at my sig coinimage.

If there is a rub, wouldn't that make it AU?

I would have guessed MS-62, There is no wear on that coin, just strike weakness. Actually I have seen a lot of three cent nickels like this.

This coin was given a 62, probably because the surface preservation is nice. Most of the weak strike 3 centers you will se in Ms-60,61 holders.

    I changed my mind I mean MS62

I would have really never guessed it was that high. but its a nice looking coin. do you thing the smaller coin get a better grade?

I had guessed 62 before seeing the grade. Maybe 63. Definitely a weak strike and you can see the original planchet texture.

i guessed ms-63 prior to seeing the grade. that is NOT a common coin as-is! image

don't dismiss it as piece 'o junk - take the time to research it. you might enjoy it.
