Scumthumper to the Rescue!

tradedollarnuttradedollarnut Posts: 20,162 ✭✭✭✭✭
This ebay scum seller buys fake trade dollars from ebay sellers in Asia and then relists them as genuine. Both of these appear to be fakes:

1872-S ???? trade dollar

1874-CC trade dollar

And here's one of many that the scumbag bought:

Fake purchased off of ebay

Fortunately, scumthumper has now taken an interest in this scumbag's auctions. I emailed the seller and asked him how long he thought it would be until the Feds showed up at his door. His response was laughable:

well sence im a member of the fbi i think i know what im talking about

I wonder how much the Feds tack on to a sentence for impersonating a federal agent? If you want to email this scumbag ebay seller, his email address is: ipromise23@msn.com

I'd like to promise him 5-10 at Leavenworth!!!!

Actually, I think it's great that you are doing this. The slimeball already closed one of the auctions and I hope that either you take the other or he closes it also.

I also noticed that he bought a few seated quarters - has he tried to sell those or is he waiting on them?

well sence im a member of the fbi i think i know what im talking about

He might be a janitor at an FBI building, but judging from his writing/grammar/spelling ability, he isn't bright enough to be an agent.

From his auction: ITS VERY NICE VERY READABLE SHOWS SOME WARE BUT NOT MUCH THREE DAY ONLY TO GET THIS ONE I PROMISE IT WOULD GRADE TO MS60 OR HIGHER LAST ONE I HAVE THANKS FOR LOOKING!!!!!!!!!

It shows some ware (sic), yet it will grade MS60. I have to start selling coins like this. It's got some wear and has a hole in it, but it's an MS67...

The poor spelling and grammar of this guys sentences, seems to be up to Forum standards.

Its only his sense of honor, integrity and truthfullness that is sadly lacking.

    Past 30 days closed auctions

Yuck! I love this one - proves the guy is a total fraud:

    ebay auction

I quote: THESE ARE IN VERY GOOD SHAPE WONT LAST LONG GRAMPA ONLY LEFT ME A FEW BUT HE TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF HIS COINS AND HIS GRANDKIDS THANKS FOR LOOKING!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There are two things this guy's auctions make clear:

    1) Don't buy high value raw coins on eBay unless you really know what you're doing. Even then, think twice.

    2) If you're too cheap to buy the book (Heritage *gives* Redbooks away - heck you can read one for free at the larger bookstore chains), don't complain if you bid on non-existant dates (i.e. 1872-S and 1880-S Trade Dollars).

    As a corollary:

2a) Ebay doesn't care as long as it gets its money (evidence in point: the disbanding of Safe Harbor).
There's nothing in the rule book that says an elephant can't pitch.

You do the math. This was too easy for him. He'll be back for more. Take a look as some of his past auctions where he wasn't caught. The problem with this type of scammer is that he can get away with it very easily, and even if he is caught, he can just deny knowing that the coins were fake. Deplorable!!

    This 1800s? scummed $201.51
    This 1874cc scammed $224.00
    This 1840 scammed $260
    8 misc dates scammed $375
    3 1876s 1877s 1878s scammed $310
    1874cc scammed $265
    1875cc scammed $265
    1840 scammed $217.50

Maybe, just maybe, justice will be served. Here is the body of a PM I received:

Saw your thread about the fake Trade Dollars and when I clicked on the link I noticed the seller is from SC. Well......I'm from SC also and only about 1 1/2 hours from Roebuck.....I'm also a Law Enforcement for the State of SC and have a good friend and fellow officer that works for the State Law Enforcement Division that investigates computer crimes/fraud!

I'll do a little homework and pass this information on to her.....she's very good at what she does! can't promise you anything but she will give it a hell of a try!

If you have any information that you would like to share on this individual please forward it to me and I'll pass it along!

  • Russ,
You better pass on the trade coin, you might get something else in the mail.

Wow - the 1840 seated liberty closed on 20th had the same picture as the 1840 that closed on the 21st. Do you think this seller is going to deliver anything?

I could see a month or more apart, where buyer returned but 1 day?

  • tradedollarnuttradedollarnut Posts: 20,162 ✭✭✭✭✭
One of his victims had this to say:

you mean that he is or has sold trade dollars that
aren't really trade dollars? and he knows it?

Welcome to the cruel world of ebay!

This guy really is a class one idiot. I sent him the following in answer to his offer to send me the coin:

<< <i>I don't need to see the coin in person to know it is a fake. You have a history of ripping off the unsuspecting with these counterfeits. You know it, I know it, and now law enforcement in the state of South Carolina knows it.

You're criminal activities will soon be coming to an abrupt halt.

    Have a nice day.

    Russ >>

    He responds with:

<< <i>i have never riped anyone off hear at all you can be asured of that i dont no how you get your info but your wrong >>

I guess it doesn't take much of an IQ to be a crook.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who is helping to get this bozo off of ebay and into jail. I think that we should mail him a tube top and a mini skirt for his first day in the slammer.

Also, what has ebay said about this? Probably doesn't matter, since he will just show up later with a different id.

i don't know if he's an idiot, he's made some big bucks off this stuff - not bad for a kid (or so he seems like one). he could have at least bought and sold under 2 different accounts...

i have a feeling he's one scared puppy right about now.

    baccaruda,

I'm also thinking it's a kid. He signs his eMails "Christopher". Most adults wouldn't, and his other current auctions are computer games.

considering his other auctions for pokeman cards, games, and his grammar - i'm guessing he's a computer literate 12 year old.

not a bad haul for 12 years old. you know how many newspapers i had to deliver for $2000. man, working's for chumps.

  • If you want to see another idiots' auctions, look up e-bay seller nicknacs1. Most of his coins are overgraded by at least 20 points. Look at some of them and send him an e-mail concerning his grading and you will get a nasty e-mail back. He makes this guy look like he had a 4.0 grade average in english!!!

I think this is the definition of incoherent rambling

<< <i>what you need to do is kiss my ass iv done nothing wrong you just asume that you are right just because i bought some of the counterfit dollars how stupid do you think people are you can see my feed back you can see that i bought them thay are not the same damn coins i was trying to be nice to you a get you to see that but i see you like sticking your nose in where it dont belong send any body you wont i have two kinds of trade dollars the real ones and the fake ones so you get you a lawyer because you have been the only one here to brake the law plus ebay rules you go right ahead do what ever but get your pocket book ready because ill break you ipromise you are messing with the wrong one i hope you caused this much trouble to all the other coin dealers that have bought the same dollars i did OOOO but the ones thay sell is real and mine is not your the one thats not to bright i think its just because you dont have nothing else to do with you time but to but in to other peoples bisness well have a good day Christopher >>

  • tradedollarnuttradedollarnut Posts: 20,162 ✭✭✭✭✭
Yeah, that genuine 1872-S he was selling supports the hell out of his professions of innocence! image
  • NumisEdNumisEd Posts: 1,336
Someone should offer to trade him a box full of periods, commas and capital letters for his 1872-S Trade Dollar. You may want to include some brief instructions on the application of the capital letters and punctuations, however, please avoid any words with more than 5 letters.

  • baccarudabaccaruda Posts: 2,588 ✭✭
seems to me an innocent man would not put so much effort into proving his innocence. he'd also not offer to send what he believed to be a genuine $300 trade dollar to someone he didn't even know.

guilty. this is one scared puppy. i almost feel sorry for him.
