My Newest Toned Morgan - Guess Grade Please

This coin is in a ICG Slab. I want to cross it over to PCGS. I think it has a good chance. Can I get some grade guesses from you before I tell what the slab says.

Thanks!!

Lori

Interesting toning as for the grade i can't tell from a picture that small.
  • Ms-65/66. Very small picture to grade a high MS coin.

  • I'll go with MS-64. Just because the picture is too small, and it may have some nicks and dings in places. I would definitely say that interesting toning will help the grade out. Nice coin.
  • Most likey MS-65 but its hard to tell from the mini pic.

    65 and maybe AT'd.
  • Ouch Placid... Everytime you answer one of my threads you give me bad news. Here is the slab. I hope it will grad the same at PCGS.

Didn't get my vote in time before the answer, but here goes anyway. I don't think it will 65. I think its a 64. The 1883-P is generally found well struck, but with occasional weakness particularly on the reverse. I think the change in coloration on the reverse center of eagle is weakness of strike as opposed to anything more sinister. I THINK, I can also detect very slight weakness of strike on the obvers...not enough to normally be an issue, but on a date which is usually well struck, it is more of a distraction. The obverse luster doesn't jump out at me either. I think its a very nice 64.

  • Does anyone else think it might get bagged for AT? I sure hope not.

The toning looks real enough to me. mike image

Highly unlikely that this is AT... don't mean to be difficult but, why bother crossing it over? It looks like a nice coin that was graded appropriately. Save the $$ and use that towards your next coin purchase. Just a thought.

Yeah it's only like a $50-$100 coin and if you crack it anything can happen. Maybe a crossover at any grade would be more appropiate. It has some fair sized hits by the nose & motto on obv so I'm thinking 64.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
