So maybe there's hope, but from his feedback I'm in a long line. I had to contact the FBI before on a wire fraud (and they said they don't do anything other than take a report and wait to see how many complaints come in). Look's like they'd cancel this guys ticket if he doesn't make good.
Probably a moron buying at spot to fill his orders and started losing too much.
eBay's fraud program is useless - it says they may give me $175 back.
Ouch, we had to threaten the guy to stop using our photo's of our 1gram and 5gram gold bars. Wondered if they were for real. Sorry that they got you and good luck on the refund.
I know the horse is out of the barn but doesn't e-bay provide an escrow service on large money transactions where they hold your payment and will not release it to the seller until you notify them that your items were received by you?
This is one of the reasons I only bid where PayPal or a credit card is accepted. Paying by money order or check leaves you at the mercy of the seller. I don't like leaving myself open to that kind of situation where you have very little recourse to recover payment if the seller doesn't come through.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune... Sure makes the rest of us look bad that sell on eBay. Ebay does nothing to protect the buyer, or seller.. I always suggest using a credit card for anything above $300.00 when buying online. And in this caes if you called him with a credit card, just think what he may have done.. I guess in this case a credit card payment via painpal would be payment of choice. ( I can't believe I said that) Paypal won't do anything either, but you can dispute the charges with the credit card company... Paypal will frezze a account if there are 3 or more disputes pending. Again sorry to hear about your experence here....

Hope you used a credit card.
I paid with a money order 18 days ago for 2 1 oz gold Krugerrands for $712 (plus $18 S/H/I).
The ad said 2 weeks and I have some patience so when it didn't come by today I went to email him and saw he had been unregistered with 38 negatives.
I sent him an email saying
I'm gonna take your house away from you &#%^$@.
Any comments?
Surprisingly, I got an auto generated response:

I'm truly sorry you were hosed by that jerk, there Relayer!
Why does it take them over a month to NARUed someone like this?
I thought over $5k is considered grand theft? I would think the FBI WOULD get involved since it is interstate?
Ebay has lost all credibility. I for one no longer buy anything but sub $100 items, too risky.
DCAM-
Yeah, I saw he was a PowerSeller and been around awhile shipping gold so I wasn't worried. He had 1 complaint for being slow.
It's not a good feeling when you go to email the seller about the status of your gold that's late in coming and see he's NARU'd.
At least I'm in a better position than the guy who bought 13 ounces.
