annoying message posts

Could you people try and avoid cutting and pasteing comments from other posts
thanks

It has become an overwhelming annoyance to read a topic and see constant repeats
from other comments within the same thread, come on folks we all can read it. ONCE

I don't think they are meant to be reposted to be re-read but rather to infer reference as to what the post is specifically answering. image

In a thread with many responses, it is often helpful to provide a clue to what exactly the response is commenting.

I don't use copy and paste. I use the quote function.

Can't we just have one pet peeve thread?

  • << <i> Could you people try and avoid cutting and pasteing comments from other posts >>

    No.

I won't make any effort to make my posts comply with your wishes. I absolutely refuse. If I quote something from someone else's post, it's for a reason... usually, so others will know specifically what I'm responding to. You don't have to like it anymore than I like having posts that interest me pushed to the bottom of the page by posts like yours.
When the top of my page says, "berrydingle's message boards", then you can dictate the contents of my posts.

BTW, to make the quote I copy and paste. Cutting text from a document removes it, which can't be done to someone else's post.

  • It is usually only a sentence or two taken from a paragraph to address a specific question or comment, in the past there has been confusion when someone makes a comment and people don't understand what he is trying to say. Quoting ensures people know which specific statement the poster is referring too.

Now, now everyone, let's not all get bunched up in the underwear here over dingleberry's concern. He's new to the forums so let's give him some room. Some people like me usually write too much and I can see how this can be annoying. But it is essential that some areas of reference are neccesary for clarity and edification.

Hey, berrydingle. Do you, or anyone else, have any idea what or who I'm in agreement with? Uhhhh.... NO, you don't. There are twelve messages in this post, not counting my first one, that I could be directing my response at. Let me see now.... what would be a good way, maybe even one that's part of the functionality of the board, to indicate what my agreement is in reference to?

<< <i> Sounds to me like BerryDingle made Clark mad. >>

Naw... he didn't make me mad. I don't have to be mad to voice my opinion. It's all good.

<< <i>He's new to the forums so let's give him some room. >>

Then, maybe he should get out now before he starts losing sleep over the << overwhelming annoyance >> of having to read quotes from previous messages. image

I do avoid it as possible and just address my comments to an individual, but
often it is necessary as a reference and helps put your comments in context.
Normally I'll remember the quote and not need to reread it.

Help me.....................where the heck is the "Make this thread go away" button.

  • And what did we learn from this informative post by Dingleberry...urr I mean Berrydingle is:

"Never pass up the opportunity to say nothing."

    Ooops...I must not have learned!!

It would help if you could specify specifically,

indevidually in alphabetic order. Who is the problem? what is the problem ? Why is there a problem?

When is the problem? where is the problem? Finally, is there a problem?

For those of us trying to run up our post totals there are the "cheat threads". Typically
these appear on other forums and can be quite entertaining and grow to great lenght.

Ahhh, Berrydingle. The fruit that rings like a tiny tinny chime. Of course if we were talking

about a dingleberry, then that would be a rather small series of accretions ,adhering to the posterior of

an animal, most likely of the Canine Family.

ROFL. OK, maybe my answer was a little judgemental and even calling them
"cheat threads" may not be entirely fair. There are some of us who have an
interest in driving up our post count even if it means posting thoughts or dri-
vel which are less than profound. I'm a little surprised that with your seniority
and your obvious proclivity for posting that you haven't run into any of these.
While they tend to be relatively few in number here they do crop up (and stay
up sometimes) on some of the other fine forums which our hosts have gracious-
ly provided for our use. Were I to look for one it might be right here on this very
thread or perhaps on the open or GCD forums. Good luck finding one should
    you go to look.
