How often do you look at your coins?

In my experience, there are two basic types of collectors - the hole fillers (like me) that are working towards completing a predefined set of one sort or another, and those that are captured by the beauty of individual coins.
When I get home, after buying a coin, I look at it for a while, enter it in my database, then it goes into its permanent home. This may be a slab box, a 2x2 storage box, or an album. Seems I rarely take them back out to admire (which also requires forethought when stored offsite). I get more satisfaction from the hunt itself.
How about you? It's a snowy night with nothing good on TV. Do you take out your collection and admire it?

Seriously, I look at them quite often and daydream about the millions I'll make when I sell. lol

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

Great hobby!
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Some of them: at least twice a week
Someone should make an album for slabs that has the look and feel of a Dansco or Whittman album.

When we get together to look at coins in your cat parlour, remind me to take my allergy pills....

I feel it keeps me connected to my collection. It started by accident when I forgot to put a slab into the vault and carried it around until my next visit. It was/is great.
one thing I'm very happy about is what I call my #2 type set, that I keep in the 2 old Whitman albums at home ( one book each for small and large coins) because when I upgrade a coin in my Dansco type album that is at the bank, the now #2 coin goes into the Whitman at home and it either fills a hole or displaces a lower graded piece, and then i can see it whenever I want!
I do wish I could see some of my prizes more often though. I like the idea of taking pictures of them so I can have them on the computer, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Have pretty much memorized every detail of my proof Morgan, Proof Walker, and mint state 1812 half eagle, have spent so much time gazing at them

A few pieces I would like to look at more often, but their value precludes me from keeping them at home. I'm gradually building a digital picture library of my coins so that I can look at any of them on the computer any time I like. Still that's not as good as the real thing.

My proof sets, mint sets, and modern commemorative coins and sets are in a box, and so I look at them about once every two months.

I go thru phases like Lucy and right now I'm in love with the 2002 Britannia and I'm looking at it every chance I get. Next week it'll be something else. Twowood
Once they get rotated out, I only check em out 3 or 4 times a year.
