Hello Everyone - New to board - Take a guess at my grades

I'm sending over 100 of my coins off for grading and encapsulating.
Always curious what the internet eye is compared to real life.
I'll shoot up 6 coins, tell me what you think these coins will grade at and I'll keep track of
all guesses until I get them back, I'll post the results of the grading.

First one is an 1892-s Morgan
Sealed for the last 60 years - but not perfect.

  • Very well struck - not the cleanest coin.

  • My favorite off all the coins I have.
    Beautiful golden tone.

But, the internet scans are tough to judge, why I am doing this.
Good education for all....well for me anyway.

1921 Either a bodybag for cleaning or au50.
  • EXACTLY a vf35 nice original on the 92-s @ pcgs. wagers ?
  • I'm going to say the 1892-S gets bagged for cleaning. Sorry. image
  • Nothing to be sorry about at all.
Why I am doing this. Pictures are deceiving.
The 1892-S doesnt have a spect of dirt on it. Was it cleaned?
Full luster. I'll be getting these back in 2 weeks.

  • << <i>I'm going to say the 1892-S gets bagged for cleaning. Sorry. >>

I was thinking the same. As with the 1921. 1890-cc and 1891-cc could pass for a MS62 or 63. The Walker looks around a AU53/55.

Welcome to the boards and thanks for sharing the coins. Good luck with the submissions.
  • Hello, and welcome!!!!

The 92-S has been cleaned from the way it looks, especially the reverse. (Sorry, no one likes to hear that)

    90-CC I guess a 63.

91-CC ummmm.... 62 if it doesn't have wear.

21-P another 60!! I'd dip that thing!!!!!image Has a few nicks on the cheek and other areas.

Walker - AU-55 Some wear on high points.

I,m not sure how to read the colors. They,re not really all orange toned are they?
Maybe the lighting is just that hue?You use a bug lamp to light it?imageimage

Looks to me like all of those have unnatural surfaces - wiped or dipped or cleaned.

    1892-s
    xf detail, clnd

    1890-cc
    au+ (55)

    1891-cc
    au+ (53)

    1921
tough call, if it's dark toning, ms-63, if it's dirt, au-55 due to cleaning

    1945 half
    au-50

  • I was thinking the same thing coppercoins just didn't wanna say it...image
    Mike
  • The ones that show golden/orange tone are actually that way.
But, I can't give away to much information. I want the educated guess from members
from just looking at the scans. In raw format it is a guess from the limits of the
    picture.
    I won't say if the 92-S was cleaned...or not.
  • The 90 and 91-CCs...if not bagged for some reason, won't go better than AU 55....those dates normally have strong strikes....from your scans they look mushy and may indicate some unacceptable rub for an MS

Senfd them to ANACS rather than NTC...even with a net grade, you'll come out ahead.
