PCGS Does As It Wishes?

I submitted a coin under the regrade guarantee. I clearly marked the form and asked that someone call me after the process. Guess what? The third day after receiving the coin PCGS simply reencapsulated (i.e., simply changed the holder) it and sent it back without a call. I'm speechless. Can't they read? They'd better read the next thing they're going to get from me -- a complaint from Orange County small claims court.

  • not surprised - when I submitted coin & currency sets I asked for my materials to be retained and sent back with the coins (22 submitted). No dice.

Are you suggesting no one even looked the coin over?

Sometimes strange things seem to happen at pcgs like with Legend. The first time the coin came back the same grade with no problems found.
The second time the coin was found to be obviously doctored.

    Can't they read?

Don't be so demanding. First, they should learn how to grade, then they can take a crack at reading. All grading services suck.

Sorry, but you got what you paid for. They are under no obligation to call you. They don't offer a "Regrade and Call" service. They offer a "Regrade" service.

YOU should have called them before you submitted it and seen if they could handle your special request.
  • It just totally surprizes me that they (the GRADING Services) forget who the CUSTOMERS (!) are. Maybe that's why they are having a hard time making money and increasing their market share?? Lack of knowledge of Business "101" for sure. I don't know who this "Legend" person is but I surmised that she is with PCGS. She has a good following here but seems to be on the outside of "management" of PCGS and only comments on technical issues.

In our (My Company) service business, we take very, very good care of our customers. Mainly, because without them, no one would hire us and send us $$$. I, like others, have been screwed by PCGS and will NOT, under ANY circumanstances, send additional coins to them for grading or whatever.

How much did that cost you? $30regular + $14shipping? I am curious because I am considering doing the same thing. Just like original submissions I guess on whether you should do it or not.

Since they cracked it out of the old, and put it in another, I would assume that it was regraded again and recieved the same grade? Is that possible?

If I get mine back, I am going to list it for sale on ebay with a market value starting price/BIN and point out all the reasons I believe it should not have graded that high. And have the title something like "Can this truly be a PCGS MS66"? I would relist this every month until someone bought it ( and link this board to it) - hopefully the grading company.

And then in the desription describe how I spent another $40 and then they said, yes it is - nothing like good word of mouth.

    That's pretty funny.

p.s. of course by "pretty funny" i mean it's funny that to many it seems nearly impossible that a coin would regrade at the same level.
  • Ya, I paid $30 plus shipping. In the first place, the coin was cracked out of a green label holder. I wanted to keep it in the green label holder and simply wanted PCGS to review the coin under the guarantee. Second, I don't even think they regraded the coin. It looks like they simply reholdered it. Imagine that, $30 plus for reholdering.
