I'm closing my PayPal account - i've had it with them.

I'm not going to spend anymore of my time dealing with these people. They restricted my account. They didn't give me a reason. They ask for pages and pages of information to verify an account that they've already put thousands of dollars into.

I'm through with their garbage.

If you ever become a victim of wire fraud thru PayPal and do a charge back, they'll freeze your account and hold your money. Instead of going after the scam artists, they try to collect from the victim. It's much easier for them.

Their policy is freeze assets first, investigate later. Maybe in 6 months they'll send you a check for the balance, or just keep it. It's pretty much up to them since they aren't regulated as a bank.

My exposure with them is never more than $500 at one time. For larger transactions,
    I prefer shows.

I'm waiting for my account balance to hit my bank account and I will be closing my account as well.
No more time for their crapola. It's not worth it to me.

I already closed my account with them, but it was a good way to avoid temptation to buy lots of coins... Has worked, too.

Wow, CU felt like emphasizing my message repeatedly repeatedly repeatedly. They must be mad, too.
  • Click here to read why Paypal sucks.

If you have more than a few hundred in your account you are asking for trouble. If you have never had a problem, wait, you eventually will. I stopped using them about 8 mos. ago and I understand they have gotten only worse.

Having $14,000 tied up as long as you have would tick me off too snake and I don't blame you. For that amount of money they could be a little more speedy about the transaction.

  • Good for all you guys for catching on to PayPal. We did the same at fairtraderz. They emailed me the other day to tell me that they allowed someone access to our account, No one has access but Paul and I. I was so mad that I called our rep at paypal and told them they can count on no more transactions from us.
I am sorry to have to do it because it is so easy for our customers. Customers can call us up on the 800 # and I can process credit cards in the office at 1.9% to us, where paypal the % is going higher and higher.

Here is a funny one about paypal. A guy payed us twice over the weekend for a auction(we go home to our family's on the weekend) so we are not there. He emailed paypal about it over the weekend and they froze our account (over $6k) When I get into the office on Monday AM I had seen what happened and refunded one of the payments. We did a three way (the customer, me and paypal) to let then know what happend and that I fixed it. They unfroze our account and froze our cutomers account .. Poor guy it took him all day with them yoyo's to get his account unfroze.

Paypal sucks.com is a great website to read about how bad that company is. We really like it when it was free and a new company. But since then it has gone down hill, and now that eBay owns it, forget about it!

I have had no problems with Paypal but based upon all of your experiences I can see they are going downhill. I have changed my credit card from Discover to Visa because as a PayPal buyer you can do a chargeback directly through Visa but with Discovercard you have to deal with Paypal. And apparently they usually side with the seller.

I've used them 100's of times (both buyer and seller) without a hitch.

Adrian and others with similar problems,

Go to eBay's "PayPal Discussion Board" and post something like DAMON, PLEASE HELP!. It seems that this Damon person has an inside track and gets things resolved fairly quickly, including unfreezing of accounts.

Not true. I did a charge back on two items I purchased from the same seller (scammer). They didn't freeze my account. In fact, they credited the amount of the chargeback to my account AFTER the credit card company had also given me credit.

Of course, they debited it a little while later when they figured out their mistake.

I got a letter from PayPal acknowledging the chargeback. No problems. Of course, it was only for ~$125.
