I prefer using a dedicated newsreader called Free Agent. As the title says, it's free, and it's a great program. They also offer a pay version called Agent, with a few more features. It can be gotten here.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha....I'm laughing at Frank's comments about the people on rec.collecting.coins. I used to post on rec.collecting.books and I was always being chastised for posting inappropriate articles...watta bunch of pussies!! Twowood
There's a massive troll invasion in RCC right now -- it's tough to wade through it. I wouldn't recommend any first-timers to go there right now.
Unlike a forum like this one, RCC is completely unmoderated -- there's no one who can decide who can post and who can't; no one who can delete inappropriate messages. It's kind of a free-for-all.
Snobbish bunch? Circle jerk? While not denying those labels, I do find this esteemed board to be significantly more snobbish than RCC. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course...
It's really a useless place to visit. If you take away the off topic posts, flames, the "I'm better than you posts", and the - as Frank put it - "circle jerk", there is maybe 1% of information there.
I was a regular reader at RCC a few years ago. I returned a few months ago and tried to become a more frequent poster. I got few replies to my posts and some were ignored completely. Now I don't troll or try to cause trouble, so I guess I didn't fit in well. I simply tried to ask questions and give my experiences and knowledge to others.
I still skim the headers and read a few posts, but I don't reply much any more. There are a few there who I enjoy reading, but there is a lot of junk to sort through.
I've been reading here for a few months too, but I haven't posted enough to figure out if I'll be ignored here or not yet.

It is a snobbish bunch. Seems like a giant circle jerk to me.
