Interested in what your prized coin(s) cost in 1959? Post and I'll provide the Red Book answer from

Browsing through my 1959 Red Book and shaking my head ... First, it was a lot simpler hobby then. Most series only list three or four grades: Good, Fine, Uncirculated and Proof. That's it.

How about ... a EF 1792 Silver Center Cent for $600? Big bucks, back then.
1793 Half Cent, $95 in F. 1793 Chain Cent in F, $170. 1909-S VDB, $77.50 in Unc. 1914-D much more valuable at $200 in Unc.
Unc Two Cents, $6 to $20, proofs $30 to $40. Three Cent Nickels, under $10 for most in Unc., lots of proofs around $10.
Shield Nicks, $8 to $20 in Unc., proofs around $20 to $30. V Nickels, $8 to $12 in Unc., $14 for most proofs.
1913 Matte Proof Buff, $15, with Unc 13-S Ty.2 only a buck less. But, the 36 and 37 proofs run $50 to $125! Mattes must be ugly, eh? Three leggers $30 in Unc.
Proof 1942-P Jeffs, $5 a pop, twice as cheap as an Unc 39-D or 50-D. Unc. 1938 and later Merc proofs, $9 or less. Proof twenty cents, as little as $50.Unc 1916 SLQ, $235. Proof Walkers, $130 for 1936 to $11 for 1942. 1950 Frankie proofs, $10. Proof Morgans, $50 -- proof Trades, as well. Running out of steam, you get the idea.

Have a coin you really want to know the price on, post and I'll answer!
