hi there rob i have asked the owner and the coin is not for sale

as it is a really uncommon coin with toning like this!

one of the best commem dealers in the world paid close to 1800 for this coin raw 6 years ago out of a major toned commem collection also all raw

and kept sending it in for a 66 which they thought it was an easy 66/67 coin and kept getting it back 65 with 6 or 7 grading fees in it over a period of two years so they gave up 4 years ago and sold it!! for a huge premium and still way way undervalued as such

but the dealer just got tired of looking at the coin and was extremely frustrated

i have seen one dealer keep sending in a monster commem into a major grading service looking for a 68 over and over like many many times!! setting close to a record!!!!!!!! and the coin was ALL THERE!!

keeps getting a 67!! well the head of the major service called him and said look do not send this coin in anymore it is only going to come back as a 67 we know it and have seen it multiple times........lol

well the dealer then sold it to another dealer and this dealer sent it into the same service!! and on the first try he got it into a 68 holder

well suffice it to say the first dealer got a check from this grading company!!

my point is that grading is an art not a science and grading is always in a state of flux and many/some coins are close very close maybe the next grade level in a point lower holder

such is life with the inexact science of grading and combined with the human factor is unpredictable and unreal sometimes!! but that makes it fun and makes a market and keeps the services in business!

or the short version this pilgrim is a really really nice 66.......lol

no. it is fairly common album-tone (imo). some of my coins in albums have begun to tone like that.

image<--------Just conjured up an image of John Wayne hitching up his pants and slowly drawling, "Well, howdy Pilgrim".

Heck, I've seen worse coins posted more than once. I like it, and I don't see too many Pilgrims with that "common" album toning image
