Anyone know the process to recover funds.....

It finally happened to me. About a month ago, I returned a coin that I bought off of eBay and the coin made it to the PO of the seller and thats about all I know. It was not signed for by the seller.
Details: Shipped registered mail, insured with a return receipt (I think I did everything right!).
Now the question, what is the process to recover funds or find the coin. I stopped by my PO last week and they did a trace but it just shows up at the sellers PO, no pick up. Its been 15 days so it should have been returned to me by now.
Thanks.

You did not mention if you tried to contact the recipient? If he/she not answering your e-mail as to whether or not that have gone to the P.O..... It is the holidays, maybe they're on vacation???
There are only six steps to recover funds:
1.Go to PO and obtain claim form
2. Follow instructions and complete form with required documentation for value.
3. Submit to PO.
4. Wait
5. Wait
6. Wait (usually about 3-6 weeks)
The reason is that everyone has to sign all along the way, including PO personnel. I have had one registered package lost. It took over 6 months, as someone, we still don;t know, signed for the package. The Posatla Inspectors got invlvoed, and that adds time.
For registered mail there is a 15 day time limit. The 30days applies to insured mail. Those claims go quick.

When they checked - the guy just has not picked it up? Is he on vacation?
Registered mail - 15 days all need before claim process -> problem is you have to get stuff from reciever (information/signature),
I was just about to point that out. Although, I think you should consider that even though it is registered, holiday mail has probably had an impact - you may get your coin yet.
If you do have to file a claim, you just need to get a claim form from the post office and follow the instructions "to the letter!" But take care of the first step before you leave with the form; get proof of the last place the package was accounted for by the postal service. I think they charge $3.50 for that, but it is reimbursed in a sucessful claim.

The PO just located the coin at the sellers location still locked safely in the safe. The PO should have left additional reminders and then have shipped the coin back to me if no one picked up. Two processes broken. Lesson for those looking for Registered mail - please note that this is a solid endorsement of Registered mail!!!

Sorry, but I must strongly disagree. The US Postal System is one of the best, if not the best in the world. True, they make mistakes - who wouldn't shipping billions of packages and letters a year. As one who has lived in and dealt with the postal systems of many countries, quite honestly, we don't appreciate how good we have it. Yes, there is the occasional rude or stupid clerk, and there are foul-ups, but in general it works very well - if not very slowly at times. Registered Mail can be slow and cumbersome, but it is still the best way to ship coins. If you want to see real problems with coins - look at Fed Express or United Parcel Service! Why do you think almost all expensive coins are shipped by USPS Registered Mail?
True, as this incident points out, there are some tricks to learn about how to deal with problems and what to look for if things don't go well.
I'm tired of hearing all the complaints about USPS - THE LAST THING THIS COUNTRY NEEDS IS PRIVITIZATION OF THE POSTAL SYSTEM!.
PLEASE TAKE YOUR ANTI-GOVERNMENT SENTIMENTS WHERE THEY BELONG! SADLY, YOU DON'T APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE!
Thank you for your attention.
