The nicest 1918 Lincoln commem I have ever seen

Ellesmere Numismatics made me fall off my chair.
Talk about early die state. I have never seen one struck this sharp.

1918 Lincoln commem. PCGS-MS67

Happy holidays,
Brian.

WOW! I have to agree, we looked at many of these at the Long Beach show and they all had very weak strikes.... This one is incredible!

You can almost sense it being the first one off the die.

This one does have a great strike.
It looks like it was struck yesterday.

I always wanted one of those.
    Just not in 67.....

    Perhaps a nice 65???

  • It's a beauty, Brian. But, these are the coins I will appreciate from afar in my third or fourth life as a collector. I have a 64 that rings my bell well enough. I have found there are plenty of nice mint state survivors out there with good to great strikes for the Lincolns.
In no way slamming this coin. It's fantastic. I even think it is worth the ask price. Lucky for me, I can live without it.

Clankeye made a similar post to this a while back, but I'll do it again. Which would you prefer? The featured coin here, at it's price, or this one for 1/4 of your hard earned money.

That one is super, however I agree with Clankeye. There are a few nice mint state Lincolns available for far less. For instance, compare this one that I am offering with the one Ellesmere has up. This one would be a lock 65+ whenever PCGS gets through with their "straitjacket" grading phase. Submit it now and it's a 64 tops.

If I was a serious commem collector, I would jump on it, however like Clankeye I can live without it. What a terrific coin.
  • I liked the 65 shown above..great eye appeal..nice coin for the buck..but compare the 2 white coins..the 64 and the 67..if you think they are equal or even are in the same "ballpark"...they are the same date and type commem thats about it for me..super struck pretty commems are tough and relatively inexpensive in my opinion.
