Nominate your CU Forum Member of the year!!!

Perhaps a tad early, but I thought this would be fun.

I'll go with good ol' Russ. He always keeps me on my toes. His post are great, whether informative or funny. Also he is totally willing to give his time to help people out with posts or picture analysis.

It would be kinda cool if someone could compile the results with say the top 5 names and do one of those poll things. I wish I knew how to do that...Hey, I would be willing to throw in a 1943 D Lincoln 1c PCGS MS66 for the winner of the poll.

Anyway, thanks for looking and I hope all had a Merry CHRISTmas/Happy Holidays and wish all a new year filled with the Lord's peace and joy.

Really I can't pick one and if I try to make a list it would be very long and I would forget someone.

Ditto, my vote for Mark. Informative without being condescending.

He never needs a 'wink' to get his point across and treats everyone with respect.

His Threads are not to be missed.

I know Mark Feld would say he does not qualify because he is associated with Pinnacle, but I agree with your choice. mdwoods

I've been impressed with the EVillageProwler. His posts are frequent, usually well thought out, passionate, diverse, insightfull, etc. A consumate collector who thinks for himself. He speaks well on a plethora of topics. Not the usual canned stuff about nothing. It's kept the forum alive. Before I met him I would have thought he was at least 45-55 based on how he presented himself. His wisdom belies his young years.

3.mbbiker (for showing such passion for numismatics at such a young age!).

4.myself (for being such a keen observerimageimage and having the nicest toned mercs).

    Happy new year,

My vote would be for Clankeye, who not only dared to originate a poetry post in this coin forum, but also conducts himself with considerable civility.

When I started my thread I really meant "new" member of the year (not that it makes any difference to me). For that reason I chose Russ. He jumped in with both feet into one series and is many times asked by name for advice on that series. He has certainly proved that the true collector is still alive and well.

For this, I will still nominate Russ for that award.

(as for the line on the other thread about getting an AH or any Kennedy, Russ had nothing to do with it, and I still really do not think much of the series)

My vote for CU member of the year is a split / tie between :

Michael, for his infectious enthusiasm and love for coins, his near-perpetual good cheer, his willingness to help other forum members and his working with kids and teaching them about coins.

    AND

Clankeye, whose "Good Morning Class" stories, with their wit, humor and keen analysis have provided consistent excellence, smiles and laughs. But, though that, alone, could be enough, he has provided much more - sharing of his love of coins and the hobby, open / frank discussions on many topics and a comfortable presence that has helped keep the forum intact.

There are a number of great people here but these two get my split vote.

I would vote for Lucybop for the most enthusiastic and cutest. I would vote for Shylock as the most knowlegeable on Indian Cents and would vote for Coinguy1 for the most educational.

  • I vote Coinguy, no Michael, no Coinguy, no Michael, Heck I'll just vote for Lucy.
    image
  • Ok Coinguy1, I'm going to offset your vote and vote for michael and you. In the other thread about this I said that it's just too hard to choose from the collected talent of the forum, but... I will go out on a very solid limb and give my nod to you two guys.

I may love coins, as you pointed out, but I don't have an enth of the knowledge you and michael have about numismatics. Beyond that, and this is a BIG beyond that, the word civility was brought up earlier in this thread, and you both have it in abundance. My thanks to you both for what you bring to the table.

Oh wait... Mrs. Coinboard wants to talk to you both...

Mrs. Coinboard: Michael and Coinguy1, dears... you make me so very pleased and proud... now, get your skinny butts back in those chairs, and keep yer yaps shut for a change!
    Sincerely,
    Edna Coinboard.

OK I vote for michael. If he wins he is free to decline the big trophy. I will be glad to watch it for him until he relents. He is truly a collector who enjoys the hobby for what it is and that is saying it all.

Coinguy1 did not get in enough months this year to qualify. Must play more than 6 months to qualify. Rules are rules! But 2003 is a brand new year!

I usually do not have the luxury of spending to much time on the boards, being in the mortgage lending business takes its toll on me, but I'd nominate Clankeye even though he probably doen't know me I enjoy the real potzy stories interwoven together in true numismatic intrigue and candor,..... its made me smile and crack up on a number of occasions when monday morning saw black, and the bag lady sits there asking "so can you give me a better rate....today??" , and I burst out laughing loud, I mean loudimage

Although I've yet to do business with Coinguy (Mark) his informative postings and selfless time devoted to the board deserves honarable mention if not perhaps a nomination.

Hard question for me. So many here have helped me understand stuff.
I'm split between Coinguy1 and Russ. Lucy gets my vote for best attitude...always positive.
Looking forward to another great year in our hobby and the board.
    Larry
