Hello folks. I've been reading the posts here for sometime and thanks to all those who share their invaluable knowledge! To say I've learned alot would be an understatement. Now I have a question..
Has anyone on here ever bid for a coin on E-bay, won the bid, sent the money and then had the seller send them back their money order saying he pulled the item because he forgot to put in a starting bid? Now mind you, this happened AFTER the seller contacted me as to where to send payment.. If this has happened to you; what recourse did you take and how was it settled? I would really appreciate any posts I get on this matter.. Thanks!!

Not sure I understand that one. You can't list an item without some sort of starting bid. Did he mean the starting was too low? Forgot to put a reserve when he meant to?
In any event, the sale is a contract and, unless he has a hell of a good reason, report his butt to eBay and neg him.

You can try using SquareTrade but if you got your money back, you're probably ahead of a lot other people.
I'd say just neg him and move on

Sounds very unusual. You might want to ask for additional clarification from the seller. As Russ says you cannot list an item without putting in an opening bid. Sellers do sometimes make mistakes so let him explain himself completely before you take action. If his explanation doesn't hold water, then you should report the incident to eBay. Go ahead and neg the guy, but, if you do be ready to get neg'd yourself.

FatMan makes a good point. The only neg I have is a retaliatory from a seller who took over two months of runaround, multiple eMails and me negging him before he finally shipped the item.

Let me say welcome. The seller on Ebay cannot renig on a finalized deal.Contact Ebay immediately and let them know what happened.Include any E-mails.When you list an item, you agree to sell that item.He hasn't the right to change that contract without getting reprimanded by Ebay.

Who is the seller? Sounds like somebody I don't want to ever do business with.

get what you want see if he has other items you like then throw him a offer
then if you can't work a deal or he won't Go ahead and neg the guy,
but it might be a honest mistake and it's a great place to start dealing from
if not move on
I agree with the majority - report this guy to Ebay. If he acknowlegded the transaction, I believe he should finish the deal.
I also commend your use of the space bar and capitalization, which some recently new members have not yet learned!!

If you are new to ebay, I would be cautious about getting neg. feedbacks until you have a lot of positive ones. On the other hand, if he left you pos. feedback already (for your prompt payment), you can neg. him without risk of retaliation.
Good luck - let us know the outcome.
