2002 West Point Bicentennial Proof Silver Dollar

How many have been sold?
I'm wondering how close they are to being sold out.

Sorry if this has been asked recently. I have not been on the forums for sometime now.

Thanks,
JP

I love the coin. I especially like the West Point emblem with the helmet and short sword.

    Happy holidays,
    Brian.
  • Thanks for the fast replies.

How much longer do you think it will take for them to be sold out?

I bought them after reading all the talk on these forums about how they would sell out fast and go up in price.

I bought some shortly after they came out thinking they maybe sold out buy the end of the year.
Then I could sell them and buy something I really wanted to add to my collection.

I'm in no way a big time collector like many of you on these forums. I have only been collecting a couple of years and these are the first coins I have bought with the idea of selling them down the road.

Anyway I'm still holding onto them wondering if I did the right thing or not image

I don't think they will sell out. They still have about 120,000 more to sell before sellout. Only 380,000 proof and unc sold so far. I suspect the mint will end sales sometime in March but they may go longer.

If you do get them, get both the BU and the proof.

    Brian.

I already have some of the proof ones.
At this point I don't think I would get any more.

  • They're selling on ebay now for less than the mint price.

  • What makes you think these will go up in price? How much were the 2001 Buffalo dollars when they were issued? I see them going for over $100 raw.

  • They will go up in price only if a bunch of people want them and a bunch of people hold them (like the buffalo dollar).
  • But how much was the buffalo when it was issued?

I paid the pre issue price of $59.95 for the Buffalo Dollar BU/Proof set plus shipping and handling. Lucky me.

Welcome to the board, Serious Shirley (uh, Woodwind)!

Congrats on getting the Buffalo from the Mint. I waited until the 3rd week, so you know how I had to buy it. It's a beaut, just like the Silver Eagles.

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
