What is the absolute safest way to store/display coins, long term, without slabbing?

I have all my coins in 2x2's and in the 10 years i've had them none of them have turned on me.

I store my non-slabbers in the cardboard 2x2s or in baggies or in plastic coin tubes or in paper rolls or in the bottom of a shoe box. I live in a dry region though, your results may vary...

Thanks Biker, My interests are in all coins but particularly Morgan's, Frankllins and Jeffersons. Been collecting intermittently for many years. Most common date coins, I keep in Dansco Albums and have noticed some ever so light toning in the last several years. Would it be better if I took them out of the albums?

Need to be in a dry cool space. I live in the south where humidity is awful. My safe room has a dehumidifier that runs constantly in the spring, summer and fall. Dry is the Key. Most of my coins are slabbed and stored in slab boxes. all raw are stored in cardboard self sealing 2x2's. Rolls are in plastic tubes and Proof and Mint sets are stored in air tight lexan containers. All look exactly the same as the day i received them.

It all depends do you like toning or not? Some people are willing to pay a huge premium for a nicely toned coin, and some think white is best. Can you tell what colors are coming?

I like white. Don't like toning. Toning is pretty much the same color as the pages of the Dansco Album; sort of brownish. I live in Florida so humidity is a problem. Use silica in the safe but apparently it wasn't enough.

I put my coins in my safe (christmas present) with some of those packets that absorb moisture, i keep them in either rolls slabs, or 2x2's. It seems to work well for me

I have many ways of keeping my coins. I have alot of slabbed coins but all of my loose ones are stored in shoe-box size boxes, 2x2's, quite a few in bank rolls and plastic tube all stored in inexpensive rubbermaid bins. They are reliable and are PVC free (I called and checked on that) and they are easy to move around and they stack well. I live in Southern California close to the beach, so I do keep some silica gels within the bins. I bought my rubbermaid bins at the local Home and Garden store...or you can find them in Kmart or Walmart...which ever you have close to you.
