fcloudfcloud Posts: 12,133 ✭✭✭✭
Do you have a collector car or cars?

If so what do you have?

Here's my list
1969 Chevy Chevelle Malibu Convertible White/black top/red interior
1978 Chevy Nova Black/Blue interior

Both V-8s--Both 4-speeds

I had an old Packard once, and an early Jaguar. A Duesenberg, too. Built 'em myself. Kept 'em on the shelf in my room until they fell off a few times and got junky lookin' and my Mom made me throw 'em away. image

I love the old Chevelles and Novas. I have had a 1962 Nova SS and a 1969 Nova. I found I enjoy driving the bronco more during my other past time- Hunting

I have alway's liked the ford 429-460 ford motor. I used to have one in all my vehicles except the pinto that only had a 351image. I gave up my own project cars and only work on customer cars these days. mike
  • A have a 1957 Baby Blue (Starmist Blue) Ford Thunderbird. It eats Chevy Belairs for lunch...well maybe not Belairs with 406's in them. Bring those cars up to Hot August Nights in Reno and we can bench race and talk coins.

    Enjoy your coins....and cars....and motorcycles....and.......

Is this a great country or what?

  • I guess the only collector car I have owned is a 69 E Type red convertible. Really nice car and a traffic stopper.

If I could have a collector car today - something that I could realistically own (as opposed to any number of vintage Ferraris I would want), I would go for a 62 Lincoln with suicide doors, set just a little low.

    Heckuva car.

  • of course this is my current ride of choice.

I wish I had gotten this color scheme, but had to settle for all black and chrome.

    Nothing like it.

I am afraid I would have to fall in the category with Lucy on is one. Though I have only owned maybe five or six cars, and only one of them was extremely fast, or should I say quick. The rest fall into the category of my babies because I was a project manager for their restoration. Most notable was a 1928 Franklin(air cooled inline six cylinder) that sold at the Jackson auto auction a long while back. Another was a ground up build of a shoebox Nova which quite frankly was one very scary ride, and it still races at Firebird to this day . The best all-around performer would have to go to to a 1972 Jaguar, what may it so special was the fitting of a 600 HP V8 stroker motor. It was so well-balanced and cornered so strong that I could not keep my hands on the steering wheel going through a certain apex. Boy I sure miss those days

    GQ;

Looks like it may happen next summer. Reno is in the picture for sure. Just have to rip the heads off the Fairlane for some work and pull the Trans and rebuild it and the Baby Blue thing will be ready to go. The wife will drive her Falcon Convert down also. She is the one that really wants to make the trip. Shes a gambler I am not.

    Thanks for the responces.

Mine are tucked away for the winter. Being in Southeastern Wiscoinsin we can only drive them in the summer or they rust away. Or is that just toning?

    Now, wouldn't a car/coin show be just a blast!

    Fairlainman,

My daily driver is a 2002 ZX2 and my wife drive a 2000 Courgar (both 5 speeds of course). I like the new Ford products, and the old GM stuff.

I thought this topic would fade away because, I guess, its in the wrong forum.image

Some people like diversifacation and some people do not. Really both Coins and Cars are a part of our American History. Obviously some like both and some do not. image

Oh by the way, stay away from the Power Stroke Ford products. We have seen many problems with them in the shop I work in. Spendy stuff to fix IMO.

  • Remember....Coin talk only. How about a '57 T-bird on the new nickel for ever. Of course a Fairlane on the new dime.....(Winged liberty obverse standard). A fifty year run of Vetts on the penny....starting with the 1953 model. Maybe a 100 year run of Harleys on the Half.....start with the '03 (1903). Put a '69 Mach I on the dollar....I don't know....sound good. A top pop bubble top on a new quarter would be fun to collect.

    Enjoy your coins.......

  • I have a couple old cars cluttering up my garage. One is a 1972 MG midget, and the other is a 1972 Dodge Monaco Brougham.
Both these were my wife's cars.
The Monaco has just 4061 miles on it. My wife said it was too big for her, so we used it to keep the garage from being empty. Oh, the price sticker that was on the side window is still in the glove box. $5052 if my memory is correct. 360 CID V8 engine, torsion bar suspension. Battleship grey color, battleship big car. Seats 3 weight challenged adults front and rear.
