They're too dang many people here!

dpooledpoole Posts: 5,940 ✭✭✭✭✭
Everytime I see an interesting thread and I get on to say something sage, informed and wise, two or three other people have already gotten on and said it, better than I would would have. My post count's slowing down badly!

Anybody else feel my pain?

Merry Christmas, by the way, in case nobody else has thought to say THAT image

    I agree with you.

As I see it, the only solution is to start your own threads - which will keep your post count up!

Even though your posts might be a little late, I still enjoy reading them, so write them anyway.

Sometimes I say what I wanted to anyway. Sometime I just read what everyone else has to say... In any case it is really a learning experience on this board!image

There's always the stamp forums. You can hear an echo in some of them. No problem with overcrowding there. And I'm afraid our Metal Detector Forum ain't a whole lot better. The posts I replied to two nights ago are still on top.

........you can always use the PM function and watch that total grow, and sometimes you can get more constructive input without the risk of aggravation that can accompany posting in a thread, if you know what i mean. and anyway, it should be reassuring that if others are thinking in a similar direction as you that you're not a total whack-oh!!!image

Yes. It is painful but has a simple solution. Threads in the vicinity of the top get
lots of hits so just go to page threee or four. By the time they get here all the ob-
vious things have been said and you can take your time with the less obvious. It's
really painful when some really good points get in right behind someone who posts
the same thing or worse yet something entirely contradictory in a well thought out
way. Also go for the threads with low post totals so the odds are better. I find log-
ging in at 3:00 AM helps too. If none of these work you can always go post on the
    GCD forum. Good Luck!

Also you can just make many points in a single post so one should be fresh and don't
forget the edit function- - it's a life saver if you say something stupid or redundant or
    fail to say something fresh.

I always find a way to talk regardless of how many people are here. Besides, at least 1/3 of all the messages are in effect: I agree or I disagree. image

I got an idea! Maybe if I just post without reading what anyone else has said!

    Nah. Too obvious.

You might also try posting without even reading what others have said.

Just say what you wanted to say anyway. I tend to do that in a thread where there are wildly differing views being discussed, so I want to state my position even if someone else said what I want to. Or if there was a particularly well-written reply, I will post to acknowledge it.

Or, you could post without reading the other replies. image

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

It also makes you look smart when you quote something wise.

  • If I had said what I wanted to say, you would think I was just saying what had already been said. That being said, I also tend to refrain from posting what I want to say if someone appears to have been thinking along the lines of what I was thinking about posting. And, as so often happens here, as soon as I get my thoughts in order and the post just right, there are at least 10 others who have just posted the same thing I was thinking just ahead of me. image Ahhhh well- life in the forums....

Lucy - why is it that all of your pics are taken from behind you? image

As a very slow typist, I have given up on trying to be the first respondent to a post. I try to make up for it by providing witty, incisive, comments! Of course, I still need to work on that too...
