Darktone, 62 seems right but gold pieces are sometimes deceptive and might go as a 63.. The reverse is perhaps 63-4. It has nice luster, it isn't baggy at all,but I would need the coin in hand to better judge the fields marks.
PCGS high end 62. Obverse chatter and a couple of decent-sized scratches on reverse (near eagle's beak on reverse and on right eagle's wing) will prevent a better grade imo. Outstanding luster and color, nice rims, scratch-free obverse, and very quiet fields on reverse make it a Nice Coin!!!
I'd say 62-64... depending on what the scans do/don't show... they could be bringing out the contact marks, or hiding them... regardless, it is REALLY PRETTY!
I am waiting until after Christmas to submit this and for one more coin to arrive in the mail to include in the submission. I will post the results when graded. mike
The longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it possible for an empire to rise without His aid? Benjamin Franklin
It looks AUish to me also because the marks in the field seem more like very light wear than just random marks on Mint State surfaces. Such coins usually get into MS-62 holders because of "market grading." I don't disagree with the pricing that results (MS-60 + money) but I wish there were a grading category that could explain the true grade better.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
