? on two different 1799 $'s

Any opinion on these two pieces, I like the darker one BTW.

1799 that looks normal

1799 that looks to clean

They are just so different, and the clean one just doesn't seem to right. I need a little education please.

Need something designed and 3D printed?

Coin #1 is an "original" piece that has not been cleaned (at not at all recently) and is in its natural state.

Coin #2 has been somewhat harshly cleaned and has a grayish pasty appearance.

Any grading service would grade coin #1 provided there are no rim defects that we can't see in the photo. Coin #2 would probably get a body bag from PCGS and NGC although those companies do have a tendency to be easier on early coins. ANACS would call it cleaned and take off points.

Coin #1 would be more desirable in the eyes of most all collectors.

Thanks Bill, thats what I was thinking, yet I still had a feeling that #2 might not be real. It was the damage on the ram of No. 2 they had me a little suspicious of its authenticity. Mainly the distance between the rim and the top of Liberty. I guess I should not expect too much in the way of perfection from the early minting process.

They both could be fake. I wouldn't buy a raw bust dollar on eBay.

i've bought several bust dollars raw on ebay w/ no prob's w/ authenticity. #1 looks nice, grades a perfect vg, value = $550. #2 looks awful, but may just be the image. don't have my book handy for attribution, but i'd pass on #2 IF you have to choose. if real, i'd guess a better variety, because it doesn't match the most commons. note that seller mentions specifically it is cleaned , indicating some level of honesty. 7 day return makes it a viable purchase.
