Pedigreed and Photographed

I got my Major Design 8-piece gold pedigreed (since I'm currently in the #5 spot) back from PCGS and put pictures up.

That $20 Liberty photo on the black background makes the toning look redder than it is (this is a more realistic picture)

I also see Paul Taylor updated his #1 set to be even more impressive (which is worth a few hundred thousand dollars more than my #5 set). Now that all his coins have a 0 pop higher, he's probably done upgradingimage

    relayer,

I just looked at your set. Nice coins!

I love Liberty gold. Great looking coin for MS64.

  • How did the pedigree thing go? Time it took, and are you pleased? I like it. Must be nice with the name on the slab.

  • Congratulations!

Nicely done. I was looking to do the same with my 12 coin type set. My only real reservation is that a couple of the coins are in those neat old holders and I have become attached to them. Did you have your coins reviewed for upgrades when you sent them in for the pedigree?

Getting the pedigree done was pretty painless. You just have to pay for the shipping and it only took a couple of weeks. I asked them to put "McClellan Gold" as the pedigree, but PCGS called and said they pretty much just put the last name on them (I know they've made exceptions in the past - like Overland Trail). Because they had to list the type on some, they said there wasn't enough room. (but it fit in 22 spaces). I guess if it's good enough for Eliasberg it's good enough for me.

I probably should have paid for re-grades on them. If any one would have upgraded the $150 would have been well spent.

Larry, I've watched you upgrade your set over the last couple of months so you've got it in a pretty good state. If you plan on keeping them, the pedigree is worth doing I think.

Congatulations relayer! Just went through your pics. You picked all eye appealing coins, and that is a great set to have pedigreed.
