An considering a purchase from him. He seems to have nice material, but
is a bit on the high side pricewise. Also, what opinion do you have of his images?

They are the best. You have virtually nothing to be concerned about as I believe they have a no questions asked return privilege.

I don't like buying coins simply from images on the web, however, I have bought several early date, high grade Washington quarters from DLRC and the coins have always looked exactly like the images. These were coins that were lightly toned, therefore, if you are looking at toned coins I cannot tell you.

I've only purchased one coin from them and I'm so impatient I didn't wait for the scan to be posted.image It's a stunner, and their rating system was right on the money for this one.

Nothing but good things to say. The coin image was accurate and they were able to come down a little on the price.

Agreed, David Lawrence is top-notch. Great service, good pix and dead-on descriptions. And, never even had to think about returning anything.

I have dealt with them numerous times. Only the best experiences. Strong buyers, reasonable
    sellers. Ask for Jack Robinson.

    Best regards,
    Brian.
  • They are the best in the business in just about every respect. I have bought and sold alot of material with them over the years, and have NEVER had anything but GREAT results. Tell'em Greg Drude sent ya image

  • i,ve bought a few coins from him and i doubt returning one of his coins will even cross your mind...tho if it does returns are no problem
  • Have had a good number of purchases this year [maybe 10 -12 coins total] mostly mid to lower high end and can only say good things about the company. Haven't returned one coin. Shipping is very fast. My last purchase was at a price point that I consider a steal.

Thanks for the quick responses! I'm considering the 1835 Capped Bust Qtr in 4 that he has for sale. The coin must have a lot of eye appeal, I'd need a price break & probably buy it on layaway, if everything works out (it IS December). Is he strong re early high grade type?

The only times I've been by their exhibit at Long Beach, they didn't have anything I was looking for.

  • I have purchased a few coins from them recently and all were as advertised except one that I wasn't happy with (a proof with lots of haze). It was probably my own fault since i didn't take my own advice on that one... When buying on the internet, never, ever, buy a coin without an image. I returned it with no problem.

    These guys are solid.

I've purchased three mint state Barber quarters from them (one via their website, two at shows). I can't say that I like their website images very well. The could do a little better in that area. But these folks are A1+ in my book.

I've exchanged many emails with Jack Robinson and have done some business with DLRC- they are prompt, have great coins, and are VERY friendly. Their customer satisfaction level has got to be 100% with how they've treated me.

I have only bought one coin from DLRC and I still wonder about it? I was at a big show in Chicago a few years ago and I was looking over thier coins when one of the guy's asked if I was interested in PCGS $10 indians because he just bought two common dates in 64 and one was a super coin. I agreed to buy one as the price was good and as I was deciding which one was the "super coin" my Dad came by and offered his opinion. I asked the DLRC employee which one was the "supercoin" and he picked one out right away. Well now another employee showed up and also said one of the coins was far superior without any idea that the first guy had said the same thing so I asked him which coin was the "super coin" and he picked the opposite coin the other employee did. Well the price was real good so I bought one and to this day I still wonder if I bought the "super coin" or if I got stuck with the average oneimage. I get a chuckle out of it whenever I think of it. mike image

Great service. Some of the photos are not of the actual coin, but a similar coin.

I have bought a few things in the past with no problems.

I sent an email about 2 weeks ago requesting further info on a 275.00 coin and have yet to hear anything. Guess that is enough to bother with for someone.

Top notch. I have bought some of my best coins from DLRC. Never any issue or misrepresentation from images.

    Great guys to deal with!
  • Purchased a couple of coins from DL and was pleased overall. I did, however, purchase a coin I felt was a little below market and guess what? The coin had been damaged inside the holder. Guess they seemed to have left that out of the description.

have never successfully completed a transaction w/ them - thought their prices were too high. tried on a couple of occasions to talk 'em down - no luck. in each instance, i found an acceptable substitute at a better price elsewhere. so having never completed a transaction, i can only offer an opinion of: "neutral".

The David Lawrence is a top notch dealership. They sell quality materail at fair prices, and they are honest and friendly.

As for those who complain about prices, I'll only say that you get what you pay for if you are treated fairly. People have to earn a living, and if you are selling quality coins, the prices have to reflect that.

If you want to buy coins cheap, quite your job, get some resale numbers and go on the road to the shows and major auctions. If you are honest and count ALL of your expenses, you will see that a dealer who provides you with fair and honest service is the REAL bargain.

billjones, you are corret as usual. i guess i'm willing to trade a price discount for the extra time it takes me to find what i need. nowhere else is it more true than in coins: time = $.

Thought I'd put my Two Cents in. I've dealt with DLRC many times and never had a problem. Coins may be returned no questions asked. Like most, I don't like buying a coin from and image. After you see a few coins from them and compare them to the images, you get a feel for what to look for, when looking at their coin images. The same goes for other dealer sites too.

  • Great dealers. I have bought 10 higher grade coins in the last 10 months from them. I only returned one. The prices I have found are pretty competative. Higher on some lower on others. Just like most dealers.

They are one of the very best! I've bought at least a dozen times from them and sold them a couple of deals too. Prices both ways were slightly negotiable, the service has always been fast, friendly and knowledgeable. I wish they attended more shows in the Midwest.

I have nothing but praises about them, great website, fast and friendly customer service. my 1937 double die proof that coppercoins is verifying came from DLRC. They also sent me a coupon for 7%off my next purchase image

1***** Great customer service, large inventory, and well maintained, easy to navigate website. Their images are decent but could use a little upgrading, including an option for a larger view of the coin. The large inventory they turn over may not always make that practical.

Two experiences I had that showed their true colors:

When the NGC forum was first launched I posted an IH that had upgraded from PCGS 64RB to 65RD and seemed to change color along the way. DLRC was the dealer offering it in it's new slab, and John Feigenbaum joined the discussion at the request of a forum member who dealt with him regularly. He wound up returning the coin to its consignor. I was impressed with his total lack of "attitude" and the straightforward way he handled the whole thing.

The first coin I ever purchased from them was an 1899 MS66RD that was one of the most pristine looking IHs I'd ever seen, except for one decent sized spot tucked behind the ear -- a solid MS67 that was downgraded for the spot. I spent three days deciding whether to keep it, and eventually returned it with an email explanation. John Feigenbaum responded with a fairly long email about his own opinion of the coin, but he understood my feelings. I was very impressed. I've since purchased many others from them without a return.

I know you're a very selective buyer Jeff, but you won't have any problem with them as far as returning a coin on your first purchase.

  • Hi & thanks to all who posted on this thread. Reading all these messages was pobably the best Chirstmas gift you could have given us! I think everyone makes good points and I'll just throw my two-cents in on a few items:

    1. PRICES - One of the best slogans I've ever seen, reads: "PRICE, QUALITY, SERVICE: PICK 2". At DLRC, we've picked Service and Quality to be of paramount importance. That said, we refuse to be undersold and, if you can point out an instance where someone is quoting a retail price lower than ours, we will match or beat it. Not to mention, we do everything possible to price coins consistenly in the marketplace, which (hopefully) is better for everyone. Of course, you can always call or email to discuss the price on any coin. We love to haggle as much as anyone!

    2. IMAGES - This is one of the toughest aspects to selling coins on the Internet. We image every coin individually and, with the exception of a few modern commems -- which all look the same, anyway -- we do NOT use the same image for multiple coins. We experimented with this for a few months, but customers complained so we stopped. With regard to the quantity of images, we a a little short-handed right now. If you need an image, please request it on the web site and Kim will take care of it ASAP (usually 24 hours or less). Finally, we NEVER do anything to hide any defects on a coin. It's hard enough to make the images look reasonably as nice as the coin. I think most people will find that the real coin is nicer than the image.

    3. WE'RE HUMAN - If we screw up, please tell us. At the rate we buy and sell coins around here, we're bound to miss an email or two. We're doing the best we can!

To eveyone on the message boards....

HAVE A SAFE & HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON. Thanks for all your patronage this past year(s). We look forward to more of the same in 2003. Only better!

    Sincerely yours,
    John Feigenbaum
