Moursund got his Christmas Wish :)

How would you like to give me a Christmas gift that won't cost you much of anything?

I've noticed that a few members have "customized" titles, even though they haven't reached the lofty levels of 10k posts.

Carol, our fabulous administrator, has customized a few for special people, but is hesitant to make this a general practice.

What I want for Christmas is for you all to VOTE in this poll, to suggest that carol should indeed customize my title.

I hope that if there is popular support, she will have no qualms in granting my special Christmas wish.

I want my title to be changed to "Cantor", because, along with coins, I'm interested in singing,
and I'm the cantor at my church, and cantor comes from a latin root for singing, and would be a nice, distinguishing title.
Whenever you see it, you can say to yourself, "Ah, that was our Christmas gift to him. Look, he is still using it".
Whenever I see it, I'll remember your kindness. image

I'll probably never reach 10000 posts, but I would truely appreciate this gift, so what say you?

Thanks

  • Begging won't help. The poll may though. You really have to demonstrate what the title means before 10,000. Carol knows I am a Good Guy.

I can only guess what my moniker would be... Maybe follow my brother's nickname: "Me Chief Slinging Bull" Or even better, "The Schulmanator!"

The HepKitty voted yes, and I do wonder how you sing, and if you get a new title, it better be a 'Hep' one Daddy-o!

I thought a "Cantor" was unique to Judaism. image Just asking.

I think they have cantors in Judaism, but for my Episcopal church (and also in at least 1 Catholic church with which I'm familiar), the cantor sings the antiphon, and then the choir and congregation sings the psalm or verse or what have you.

I think cantor comes from the latin cantare, which is to sing, so I guess anybody who sings can be a cantor. image

Maybe you need to link a .WAV or something so we can hear your "cantoring"(or do we want to hear...?) image

Well, I voted yes. Makes for precedent to get my title changed to "The Myth, The Legend, The Neil"

  • I think it is past time. If they wanted you to get that title you would have it by now. I think you should take your plea up in the open forum where there may be a better response and help from the regulars.

    Maybe so, Cameron...

Looks like there is in general little interest one way or the other here (which is ok, because if Carol does change my title, sounds like not too many people will be upset about it. image )

Since I never post in the open forum (maybe once, but I didn't inhale), I'll just pretty-please carol to read this thread, and see what she says.

    Thanks, all...

(Imagine this next sentence read in the voice of Tim Conway doing his scandinavian businessman accent, from the Carol Burnett show...)

Hey, that new title looks pretty good out there, doesn't it? image

Ahh, good ole' Tim Conway. So what is Tim Conway? About 160 pounds.
  • Moursund,
Congrats, that is cool. I grew up and was an acolyte in the Episcopal Church. For those that don't know, it is Catholic, Protestant Catholic, and the priests are allowed to marry. Celibacy is a gift for only a very few, as the Roman Catholics are finally, sadly, realizing. The Episcopal Church for all it's pomp and glory is very progressive here in America and have been ordaining women as priests for many, many years. Also the National Cathedral in D.C. is Episcopalimage
