Fess up, how many bought the coin vault 1881S Morgans last nite

They were selling PCGS 1881 S ms-67 Morgans for $999.99. I am no expert on Morgans, but isn`t that 300.00 or 400.00 high. They were selling them raw also and as he was setting them out he was putting his fat Barney Rubble thumbprint all over them. The woman with him was pretty nice looking but whe should have been on the knife sement. She could have said they have nice pointy ends. Yes, I was bored. But I found it very infomative and quite amusing.

Okay, I don`t have a PHD. in grammer. They were also selling 1881 Morgans raw. Jeez, No one ever posted on here in a hurry and made spelling errors or phrased a sentence that was not entirely crystal clear. I guess there have not been enough threads lately where one can flex their intellectual prowess and numismatic superiority. Bear there is a difference between asking intelligent questions as opposed to insolent questions.

I didn't know CrapAtHome sold PCGS slabs. I've never seen any, only NGC.

I believe the the Coin Vault are very good at what they do. They tell just enough truth to be believed. But as someone said, "Buyer beware". I have seen some good deals on the Coin Vault, although few, but more often than not the material offered there are 20-40 percent higher than one could pick up here or on ebay.

So I would say that the Coin Vault offers some good information about the material they sell and they have a good story, but would suggest one shop around before buying from them.

Great to see your post about the coin vault. I too get sick whenever I see what they are selling and what some folks are being convinced to pay. However, it's strange....as much as I hate it; I find it usually takes me about 15 minutes to turn the channel because I just like looking at coins. Maybe they could start a new coin channel that just showed the obverse and reverse of a new beautiful coin every 120 seconds. And....there could be seven minutes of commercials every 30 minutes. And...twice a week there could be live phone-in auctions of slabbed coins that are well displayed on the screen. And....there could be an hour-long show each week that goes from city to city called "Numismatics Road Show."

Some of the more experienced multi-posters to this forum could be the host. And each episode could include a ten minute feature on local collections or local numismatic history. Another weekly show could be called Meet the Posters that included a round table discussion of hot coin topics. For instance: "Next week on Meet the Posters we will have Bear and Ananaconda joining us to discuss the merits of the toning craze." Now...that would be a channel that could hold my attention. Thanks again for mentioning the terrible coin vault show. It's a shame the hobby doesn't have better.

P.S. There could also be public service announcements warning against buying coins without being able to grade etc.

Yea Russ, the offering of PCGS suprised me also. He went on to say that he had some NGC graded ones also. He also stated that NGC was the number one grading company and that there was absolutely no difference in the price or grading standards of the coins graded by either firm. The grading standard is I think open for debate, but the equality in pricing is not.

shirohniichan, No problem. As I look at it was a confusing post. That is what happens when you stay up watching the Coin Vault till 3:am. But it really gets on my nerves when they advertise the way they do. I am lucky, thanks to your posts and other board members, I do my homework before buying a coin. But others who have not discovered this forum or fully research their purchases are at a big disadvantage. I know it is a case of caveat-emptor. However as Todd states they put just enough truth in to sound good. They are slick enough to fool alot of people. It`s a shame.
