My prettiest quarter!

Some of you have seen this before, but I happened to be looking through the Heritage auction archives and stumbled upon this lot that I won back in the 2000 June Long Beach Signature sale. I like this more than any other quarter I own, and believe it or not it looks better in person! I was also surprised at the price since I thought I paid more for it (though I probably paid too much!). 1916-D Obverse 1916-D Reverse

Yep, got me one of those as well in 64, but with natural toning. I bet if I sent it to NCS and submitted it would come back 65. But I like it as-is.

Thanks placid, it is very PL on the obverse, and the reverse somewhat less so. I'm not even sure if PCGS designates PL on coins other than Morgans. Anyone know?

Too bad it doesn't have delicate "tobacco-gray" toning around the periphery!
