Where do I go to learn more??

I am interested i early bust coins and was wondering where I can go to read or research the old minting process of these coins and any other information on how these old coins were made. Is there a website or book on the subject?

Thanks, Jay

  • There are several books. One good one is "The History of the U.S. Mint" by Don Taxay (which usually can be found on ebay).

A classic book on ebay and one of the first written exclusively about the mint. If you have $50-60 this is well worth it. I have one and read it almost every year.

You may be able to pick this book up essentially new for around $35. I bought an over-print copy of the first, and likely only, edition about seven years ago for $30 and bought it directly from the publisher. There had been quite a few available at the time.

Cameron's suggestion is a good one... I used it for a research paper... you can also get it from the ANA Library if you are a member.
