Wel I haven't got it yet but I hope it's not a giant coaster. I was thinking more along the line of engraved, tooled or counterfeit. Looks really strange.

My first reaction was to wonder if it was a matte proof - but the edges don't look square enough for that. Then my next thought was - as we've heard here a lot - if it's real, and if it's that good, why isn't it in a slab? Guess it all boils down to who's selling it and how much of a gamble you're willing to take!
Dog97 You may be right when I first looked at it I thought it was made out of aluminum, maybe counterfeit. If it is and you don't like it I'll take it off your hands.
A collector of high grade TONED BUFFALO NICKELS ,working on a PCGS REGISTRY SET.
Hey thanks Russ! Every time I decide to go look for T1s I get sidetracked on something else. I guess a Proof would be ok but I was hoping fake. Be my luck it's a normal coin with a bad scan.

Because I was looking at 1913 T1s when I found it and I bid on it because it looked bad and I don't have any bad Buffalos so if it's not fake then I don't want it and should have just stayed looking at the T1s but they were all weak and this thing looked interesting.

My first thought was that it looked like some of the modern engraved Hobo Nickels you see. My second thought was that it looked like a modern cast or maybe crude false dies.

My initial impression is that this coin has been tooled. The major "details" are very prominent to the point of almost exclusion of the finer details which is a tipoff that the coin might have been tooled. Also the hip bone appears to show wear which is not consistent with the rest of the coin.
A look under greater magnification should confirm if the coin has been tooled. If it has, someone has gone to alot of effort. An interesting coin to own and examine!
Just another regular ole Buffalo. Not retooled or fake. The seller's lighting was weird and it made some shadows that made the coin depth look weird. Here's my scan of it:

Placid the middle line in the feather is well defined my scan just doesn't show the depth because it was a straight on scan whereas the seller took his shot from the side which created shadows and more than normal looking depth. Notice the sellers coin is not round because of his angle.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
The unusual color and along with the angle of the photograph caused everyone to question the coin. The shadows in the original photograph made some of the features (especially the jaw) look out of wack.
The longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it possible for an empire to rise without His aid? Benjamin Franklin

Is the middle line in the feather on yours there but not picked up in your picture?
They look like different coins to me
How does that vein thru the center of the feather look so bold in the original picture and in yours it dosen't even show up?
Now that looks like a regular Buff .
