I bought an 1857 Flying Eagle One cent for $19.00 in VF on Ebay. Pretty good deal for a VF but it was sweetened when I got it today. It is a DDO (Double Die Obverse). It is Snow-4 or FS1-002!!! An $80 dollar coin instead of $28!!! Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas!!

Anyone else get an early christmas gift???

No the broken wing tip is snow 3. This has the missing wingtip and the rim cud above the word states!

I agree that my best purchases have been the books. They have made their money over and over again. This last Wednesday I was looking thru my ex-boss's coins he got from his mother. In the middle of a circulated roll of 1943 Jeffersons was a doubled eye DDO. It was only a G-VG. I love finding varieties! Its like finding buried treasure!!!

I've got one for you... I recently purchased an 1876-CC Trade dollar on eBay. Looking at the scan of the coin I could see that it had a doubled die reverse, so I put in a strong bid. Apparently nobody else noticed this (Shiroh and Keoj must have been asleep!) and I got the coin for around the price of a normal 1876-CC. It's probably worth about twice that.

Cool DDR and Pontiacinf!! I seem to be pretty lucky as I have found a fair share of varieties without seeing the coin very clearly. Another cherry I found was a 1939 Jefferson where the seller only had a pic of the obverse. When I got it it was suppose to be MS64. Well he did not use a glass and it was an AU. I was PO at first until I turned it over and it was the DDR (Doule Die Reverse)!!!
