Doug Winter is an active dealer in rare branch mint gold coins here in Dallas and actively maintains his website.

Regarding Doug Winter....Coins are generally far above average with excellent eye appeal. Prices are retail appropriate-fully priced but does not' bury' his customers in a coin. I have purchased coins from him in the past and will do so in the future. Books and website are excellent.

Doug Winter posted here occasionally about a year ago (link). I've always enjoyed the articles on his website.

I haven't bought any coins from Doug Winter as they're a bit beyond my budget at the moment, but I have spoken with him and exchanged e-mails and he's always been more than willing to share his time and knowledge.

By the way, I think his website shows the New Orleans book as "out of stock", although I'm pretty sure that others do have it for sale. About a year ago or so, Doug Winter said he'd be coming out with a revised edition in 2003, but I haven't heard any more about it since then.

I have purchased two coins from Doug and grade him as an excellent dealer. His prices are competative for the quality and rare coins he sells. The two I acquired one was by auction and the other out of his inventory. He is knowledgable and his books are excellent. I recommend him highly.
