As some of you may know, I am constantly searching for cameos from 1969 proof sets and came across this auction on EBay and figured it was worth a shot. I emailed the seller and inquired as to whether a stock photo was used or if this was the set I would receive. They replied that this was the set and it got here today.................any guesses as to what comes next?

The set is even better than expected and loads better than the photo in the auction. there is little to no hazing on any of the coins, they all have nice cameo obverses, the reverses are cameo'd, but are lighter than the obverse. The coins should all go 67-68, except the cent, which has a spot that makes it look like Lincoln is sneezing after being in a coal mine all day............and all but the Roosie should get at least CAM, the Roosie is very lightly frosted on the obverse. DCAM reverse on it though.image

You do know that the coins in this set weren't good enough for him to put in ACG slabs?

Just received my 1996-D Tennis Commem from Alan Hager--Ebay Auction -- Surprised to see he had a PCGS slab up for auction. The price was right so I took the risk. I am very pleased as the coin looks better than his scan. I almost didn't place the bid because even though it was a PCGS slab, I felt I was supporting ACG.

I received his brochure with my coin and I'm glad that I know who I'm dealing with here. He is very dangerous to the uninformed. What bothers me most about ACG and others is that there is obviously a market for overgraded coins. I blame the dealers that use these services probably more than I blame the services. They can only be in business if others are paying to support these abhorent services.

Knowledge is the Key to ending these deceptive practices. As I reflect - I do regret placing the bid. Although I added a very nice coin to my collection, I feel I did so at the expense of our hobby. The only way to rid our hobby of these practices is to eliminate the market by boycotting any dealer that sells these slabs.

Shoot, ole Al is ok now that he sells PCGS goods. Glad you guys like his stuff. He still owes me some threatening lawyer letters so you won't see me bidding.
