another E-bay question....how about checking YOUR e-mail?

To me, this is strange.....what do you think?

I have had 2 buyers on E-bay in the last week purchase coins and I haven't heard from them. Now - I know that part is not THAT strange - BUT - I have an AOL e-mail address and so do these 2 buyers. I sent them a nice "congrats for winning" on Sunday.

Neither of these people has even READ their e-mail....since SUNDAY! (aol let's you see the status of SENT e-mail) Okay, maybe they are away from the computer, out of town, etc. etc.

NOT - they are bidding on new items - DAILY.

Question: How many of you here regularly come to this board or go to E-bay but do not check your e-mail for days on end?

  • I normally check my e-mail on Friday. It downloads and I have all weekend to sift through it. Unless, I've won an auction. I like to take care of that business ASAP. But that's less than once a month.

When the rig is running, the email is checked every 5 minutes

  • Request their personnal info from e-bay when they get the e-mail that you have their phone #, name, and town they usually get off their ass. Also send the e-bay reminder after 3 days. I also go to AOL white pages and look up their name in their town and see if is listed. (phone numbers correspond) now you have a street address. The only reason I've done this is to get an idea of how established in their residence they are.

Since I control my own email server, I never have to check for mail, the computer tells me email has arrived. Since I'm at my computer all the time, I get instant notice of email.

Keep in mind that it seems as the majority of people on ebay cannot read, write, or follow simple instructions in english. (at least some of the ones I have dealt with)

Unfortunately it's not nice and smooth like dealing with everyone on here.

I usually email immediately after auction.
    Email 3 days after.
Request info after a week and give them a call.

This is after they have read my listing where I state that I will be emailing immediately after listing closes and that they must respond within 3 days per ebay's guidelines.

I have had some idiots NEVER write but do pay. Don't bee too impatient.
  • Contact eBay...I recently received a warning from them about a payment I failed to make a few months ago ( I always pay with Paypal within minutes of the end of an auction but this one got away from me!)and they threatned to cut me off...scared the heck out of me.
I think ebay has tightened up on their security system.Try them. Twowood

Interesting. I have two sellers on eBay that apparently don't want to get paid for the auctions I won. They haven't responded to repeated eMails. One even has the cash available as "unclaimed" in his Paypal account, which is strange since I used the link he put in his auction.

Oh yeah, and of course, both of them are AOL users.

Actually, I can't get to my personal email account from work (and I need to check it).

my3cents, you can try this if you like. Add both names to your AOL Buddy List, and when you see either of them sign on, send them an Instant Message. Something like, "Why the *&%$ don't you answer your email???" ought to get their attention! image
  • Dan - I like it! Maybe I'll try that....will let you know imageimage
