Who do you think regularly monitors this board, and why?

Do you think that PCGS’s competition - the other grading services - read the posts here? It would be a good way to gauge the collectors’ wants and needs. How about publications like Coin World? They could probably get some ideas for articles from the often interesting posts. There might even be some people who read our conversations who have less than honest motives.
Who do you think is out there lurking? Do you ever worry about it?

Not really.I dont have much worth stealing and what I do have is insured...by Smith and Wesson.
ACG completely sucks, people... never give them 1 cent of your hard-earned money... even if it is the ugliest lincoln you can find.
If someone gets $50 for that, then they lurk here
Especially the "Good Morning Class" series.

You are too funny.
Hope the ACG police does not come to take you away!
who wants to keep up with the hobby has to know what's going on on the net,
and these boards are the most used on the net. There are significant numbers
of people who need to know what the hobby is doing.
was that PCI that posted here when it was shown that they holdered a FAKE 1856 Flying Eagle!????

or they simply want to monitor the hobby without affecting it. You'll notice that many of
our more famous registered users will contribute by answering questions or possibly
pointing out anomalies but avoid stating opinions. It would be surprising if some of our

these forums are an increasingly important part of the whole.

Dan,
I once received a solicitation from a prominent dealer. At first blush, I was a little bit annoyed. I quickly got over it because the solicitation was very bland and polite -- no hype, no skimpily-attired women, no pressure.
I've also met a dealer through the message boards because he read my posts, recognized that I don't like to be bothered by dealers and left me alone. Because he left me alone, I felt comfortable enough to go to him for advice. (I haven't bought a coin from him yet though...)
I even once made a solicitation to a dealer/collector here. He has a coin in his personal collection that I'd love to have. So, I PM'ed him. I felt awkward about it, so I tried to keep it as polite and low-key as possible.
I mentioned the above 3 examples because I want to point out that the circumstances surrounding any action may not be easy to discern at first blush. In the first two examples, I could have reacted by questioning why they're building a profile on me. And, in the third, he could've asked the same about me...
There are, of course, real lurkers here who clearly are out to take serious advantage of you...

I would suggest that Coin World offer Clankeye his own weekly "Good Morning Class" column. Readership would undoubtedly soar and it might be the first intentional humorous self-examination of that vast and varied collection of humanity know as coin collectors (numismatists for you purists).
