Opinions on Toned Peace

I can't decide to buy it or not. I kinda like the toning, it is different from anything else I have. Any thoughts - is it attractive, different or just plain ugly ?

Thanks
Michael

Ugly to me if the picture represents the coin correct.

I think it really depends on personal taste, but I bet most of people think it's ugly.
If I were you, I would buy it for enjoyment as long as it is cheap. If it's an expensive coin, I would pass it because I will have a trouble when I sell it.

Well, I would need to see it to guage the luster. But it's borderline in my opinion between OK and not so great.

For some reason most Peace Dollars, when they tone, never seem to tone attractively. I think it has something to do with the fact that they did not spend 100 years in the same type of 19th century mint coin bag.

BTW it took me three clicks to get the picture to come up. It looks like the photo attachment feature is on the fritz again.

  • Can't tell if the mottled obverse toning has mostly blue or brown in it... if it's mostly blue, I kinda like it. Wouldn't pay a premium, but I'd buy it.

I'm not sure. Who has it for sale?image Maybe I can ask them for a better image.

Edited to add: Fratlaw..... Is this the scarlet one that Strat has? If not let me know what it looks like when you see it. BTW, Don't worry I'm not looking for anymore Peace dollars.

I would pick it up if not too high over on cost. You dont see them toned often, which is why I would buy it. If you pick it up and want to get rid of it....let me knowimage

Can you see the actual coin? If it is dark like the scan shows, then UGLY!

If it is light like I think it might be, then oooohhh... a nice blue accent!

Someone must like it, it's up to $220 and there's still an hour to go on Teletrade. Based upon everyone's advice I'm passing on it, but I still kinda like it, but I got another 23-D from John (Strat) to look at this weekend @ Anaheim show.

    Thanks for the opinions
