When did Accugrade Moderns get to be priced so expensively?

braddickbraddick Posts: 23,974 ✭✭✭✭✭
It seems the pricing of these have gone up and I don't understand why. These were routinely being offered for 25% the asking price they are now. Here's two examples of what I mean.

It looks like ACG has changed the look of their inserts too.

Pat, think of Kingcoin's wonder error rarities. Anyone can ask what they want. Now if they sell, then I would really start to wonder.

Those prices are insane. Now if that Kennedy had teh Full Eagles Beak (FEB) designation, then I could see paying that type of money. image

The cent doesn't look like too much, but the half is very nice. The reverse
strike is a little soft but the coin really is top notch. I have no idea what
    such a coin sells for.

  • Pat,

I think this may be part of ACG's new attributes which do bring a premium ... the Lincoln clearly appears to be FPL (Full Pants Leg in reverse of course, between the columns of the Memorial, take a closer look) and the Kennedy is a FP (Full Part - no hair is seen transversing Kennedy's part whatsoever). Some knowledgable buyer will pick these up at their rock bottom prices and re-slab them with the new attributes and make a killing ...

I'm just so used to his auctions staring at $9.99 with no reserve (usually). It's strange he now has raised his pricing structure. Maybe he was getting tired of the low ending bids?

Its a joke, At least with ICG/PCI you are getting something resembling the grade. They are
    ridiculous.

$400 for a 18 year old lincoln memorial? Are people paying that?

You have to remember that those are asking price, not what someone actually paid. I would not be surprised if they do not sell at all.

  • Braddick is right about the new insert for ACG too. I have never seen that one before, it must be very new (< 3 weeks)

It's ACG trying to catch the wave. If PCGS high grade moderns are worth thousands, than perhaps there is room to market ACG stuff for hundreds. Could we be viewing the opening shot for a ACG registry?

Every 19th century mansion had to have a privy. Why should the registry industry be any different?
