I'll be submitting this pretty soon... comments/feedback/grade-guesses?

Hi,

Well, I just sniped this coin of ebay a week or so ago. I just got it in today and want to know what everybody has to say. The toning really is nicer in person... it is redish in the middle with greenish scattered around. Its a christmas coin:-d. I know the pics aren't the greatest, but they are the ones that came with the auction and I can't do too much better with my web cam. The only things I can really see are three bagmarks on the reverse under the "ME". They can be seen in the scan... I only see one small bagmark/scratch on the obverse (very unnoticible withouta loupe), but that is probably because thet oning is really opaque. Feedback? Any guess as to the grade? If it went AU58 it would still be a great price for what I paid, but I don't see wear.

P.S. - The reverse isn't quite as blast white in person... it is white, but not quite as white as the scan makes it look.

P.P.S. - A lot of people have asked me whether I am going to dip it. I find the toning interesting and probably wont. Like I say, it looks nicer in person.

    Jarrett,
I hate to be the one to say this, but if the reverse doesn't have anymore luster than the picture shows, it will be bagged for cleaning. The picture makes it look like it has been overdipped.

Were it not for the toning on the obverse, I'd agree with Michael. It does look over-dipped. But, I don't think anybody would dip just one side, so I'll operate on the assumption that it's just the scan that makes it look so dull. Unless, of course, it retoned after a dip - but only on one side? Just really to tough to tell from the pics.

Jarrett- I don't think it's possible to grade the obverse from a scan because of the unique toning. The pictures look to be made with a scanner and they usually don't show luster good at all and to magnify the luster problem there is some heavy die clashing that will also mask the luster on the reverse. I really like your little coin and I think it will grade AU58 maybe even MS depending if there is any highpoint wear. mike image

It's probably MS61 it's hard to to say with coin toned so deeply and as much as I like the toning this is the type of toning I really hate. It looks like a cat crapped into a running fan and... I hope you did not pay a lot for it. I really hope it looks better in person because.. Yikes

    Hi,

The reverse doesn't have much luster... do you really think it would get bagged for cleaning? Here are some shots I took with my web cam.... go to the links below because for some reason it wont let me link the pic up:
