Has anyone ever used the second chance offer thing on eBay??

If so, did it work for you? Did the buyer get mad for the offer? Etc.....thanks. Richard.

  • Funny, I just had that pop up, because I have a second coin, same date and grade, I think an underbidder might be interested in. I opted not to use it, because I realize it probably only applies to the exact same coin as auctioned.
Come to think of it, is it against eBay policy to offer similiar items to underbidders in your own auctions?

Clankeye.....you as the seller has the option of making a secod chance offer to an underbidder if you have duplicates of the same thing, or if the highest bidder did not complete the sale. I thought it used to be against eBay policy, but now it is not, because eBay will set up an auction just for the person who the offer is made to and they have 3, 5 or 7 days to decide and bid. It looks neat, but I wanted to see if anyone else has used it.

Oh, eBay will charge you a final value fee, but no insertion fee. image

    Richard.
  • I as a seller used it once and it worked just fine. I would recommend it.

This is why it is not against Ebay rules. As long as they get their cut, it is fine.

  • I, as a buyer, used this option from a seller once. Worked out fine. I was sniped on a gold modern Commem. and the seller offered me the same coin in the same holder for the price I was sniped (snippened??). I took the deal and was happy.
