1942 Liberty, Can you help with a grade?

Sending this to PCGS tomorrow. Can some of you Liberty experts venture a grade? I'll let the board know when I get the grade back.

Thanks

  • Looks like a good one to me ....MS65

Clean fields, relatively free of chatter, so normally I'd hazard a guess of MS65. However, the obverse strike appears to be a bit weak for a P mint, so that might keep it from gem status.

Ogden, it looks like a nice coin except for the obverse field above the motto- it almost looks like something is going on there? can you take a close up of that area? mike

I too believe the weak Rev,would keep it from MS65.

  • There doesn't appear to be any marks on the reverse and the breast and legs have full feathers. I'm not sure what else to look for. There is no wear on the obverse, but there are some nicks under magnification. Thanks for your opinions. I'll let you know when I get the grade back. I was hoping for a 65, but then who isn't.
