How overpriced am I

Not me personally , this coin. I had a decent offer to end the auction but I am pricing this coin like Anaconda prices his coins ( ya know that, I sit back in my chair speech), I would rather own this coin than any less cash. I'm looking for opinions of value ( I'm wondering just how overpriced I am).

That's the finest AU Bust dollar I've ever seen. If I owned it and then was going to sell it, I'd do as you are doing- ask a premium and not accept anything less.

I like it, and if I had the $$, I would've grabbed it! I'd say if you are interested in selling it and don't mind waiting around for the right bidder, keep listing it at your price; someone with the $$ will come along and grab it before I will. Perhaps you should retry taking a better pic of it though, or have your "camping buddy" take it for you lol.

seems to be way above average, if the person who has made an offer is close to your asking price, one in the hand is better than two in the bushimage
  • my opinion is if you like it and don't want to part with it except for the amount listed then hold it until someone buys it. If they offered you within a couple hundred bucks for it then take it as long as it is above what you paid for it.

It is obvious you want a certain amount for it and unless you need the cash or have something else to buy that has more value to you, sit on it and wait.

  • Awesome coin. Wait, and the right buyer will come.

    not overpriced at all...exceptional high-grade Bust dollar...however,

if i really needed to get out for cash,a hundred or two or three more than i paid is the number for the new owner given these circumstances...

no way do i lose money anymore on my especially prized pieces if and when i have to sell...

Someone like Legend or Anaconda will buy it.

Considering that almost all of these babies(early Dollars) have been selling for at least one grade above the holder grade, that one seems like a real bargain. AU50 sheets for $3750 and MS60 for $9700 and that's without the attributions. Looks like you're right in the ballpark. If it was in a major auction, you might be surprised at what it would bring. Nice coin!

Man, that would be a nice companion for my Benson Barber half icon coin... they could have a reunion! image

  • If it doesn't sell this time (and I have no idea of how much the coin is worth), you might try to start it out at a much lower price and make a reserve of $5600, or whatever. The resulting bidding, even if it doesn't hit your mark, might tell you a little about where the maket is for it. Not spot on, I am sure but at least an idea. Just a thought...Beautiful coin, BTW.

  • Thanks, I feel better for holding out. I was offered $5K. LucyBop, you close your eyes and if you want Frankie, we be Frankie.
  • Better images may bring you that $5.5k, it does have a nice toning. The AU50s are averaging about $3.5k in this heated market for Bust $. Maybe it is time to sell? I would have taken the $5k and buy some nice Seated $ and halves which no one is buying these days!
  • Dlizard, two reasons I would sell. First your right bust are hot second I was really shopping for a flowing hair (1795) although I am fond of Seated $ also. I like the 1867 $ Legend has or the 1795 $ Whitlow has. If It sells it would only be to make another purchase. I may regret passing on the $5K but it won't be too much since the result is me keeping this coin. I was just taking another look at it and each time I do I say to myself "What the hell are you doing?". I like to buy new coins and the only way I can is to sell something.
