There is Just something about this coin that turns me on. What is it? I have 49 more to look at today and just thought i would share some pic's and get some thoughts on todays modern
gold coins. What do you think about them? Do you own any?

Whether it's a modern or a classic, some coins just jump out at you grab you by the throat and slap you around. This I think is one of them - Obviously it combines the features of both classic and modern, so I wouldn't fret about owning something like this. My only wish was that they hadn't changed the reverse - I always liked the soaring eagle. Oh well - gorgeous coin - nice scan too!

Thank you for the reply I must look for a specimin down the road.
Here is one that does nothing for me other then give me a sence of security. They really need to do a better job would you agree?

<< <i>Yes, I do agree (somehow the RCM version of QE II is worse than the already bad BRM version). The Maple Leaf on the reverse is nice with its intricate leaf details (specially the proof version). >>
I agree the leaf is very intracate and detailed.
Tell me, Where is a good source to find a coin such as the ones you have shared with me in your post?

I think i will ask my Pop To Get me a Gold Eagle for My Birthday.
I've got a Proof set and business strike set of these coins for type, but beyond that, I'd sooner have my collector dollars elsewhere.
There's just too many coins and too little money to get hung up on duplicates.

<< <i>MrKelso, I got my UK gold proof 5 Pound and Britannia coins from FUN coin shows in Orlando, FL back in the early 90s. They show up fairly regular on Ebay and the prices are not that bad (not too big a premium over spot gold). >>
I will be heading over to ebay in a little bit to look around. If not then i will head over to a couple of sights in the UK to see whats available.
Thanks for the help and the bug.. That is one Beautiful Gold Coin.

ahead and i will post any new finds.
Thank you so much for your help.
First thing i will do is to go to the library and research some more. This way i can kill 2 birds with one stone. I can research Gold coins while showing my 7 year old Grandson
how to research using books instead of the internet.
Thank you
