Red copper cent with brown rim - RED?

I recently purchased a "cherry" copper cent, but rim is totally brown. I purchased some other coins too, but rims are not brown like this one. This one, however, really stands out. What I was wondering -- if the rim is brown - is the cent still considered RED? I realize it is probably from being in a roll, but basically just need to know if the WHOLE coin needs to be red, to be considered "cherry" - or red. ie. the brown rim is definitely not cherry. (Note: "cherry" was was the advertised description, and no mention was made of the BROWN rim!). Thanks in advance, for your help with this question for this newbie. image

From what I remember PCGS saying, there can be up to 10% mellowing of the red to still be considered red.

Neptune, a brown rim won't stop the coin from getting into a holder certified as red. I think it would be a good way for the graders to see it's original. Here's a picture of an indian cent I have that's certified as MS64 RED by PCGS yet still has some brown.red indian cent. mike image

Like Darktone, I would be leary if the rim were red....while it might be original, it could indicate a doctored (recently dipped) coin. If the coin was in a roll, album or handled carefully only by touching the rim, it should not be full red.

Back in the 1980s I owned a set of modern Lincoln rolls that had been transfered to plastic tubes. Some dates had brown rims, a few so dark it was surprising how bright the surfaces were. I assumed some had spent more time in their original bankrolls than others.

I agree with Lakesamman re the coin's rims. I don't imagine this is the case with Lincoln Cents, but re old copper, I've seen coins with as little as 80% RD being slabbed as RD.
