    Mark,
Post the pics. And it would actually help if you did mention if the coin was in inventory or an archive picture in case it tickles someone's fancy. Another poster of great coins drive people crazy for a while by not identifying the source or availability of the coins.

for me thinking outloud i posted some coina and photos on theae boards i think starting early summer and i got a few private messages that were not really kind to me asking me waht is up? and howe much? even thougfh the coins were not for sale and were in a collection i had personally seen they assumed that i was selling promoting something for $$$$$$$$.......lol totally untrue.......lol

i only posted coins thAt really i super liked and thought were fantastic.... some might agree or disagree

i also found out that some not all but some on here behind my back said some really terrible things about me i mean really terrible and that if i had hard physical proof of this i could sue them for slander and win lots of money!! but for me i didnot so i forgot about it...... well almost...........lol i do not know how they are but i have really good ideas.....ie i figured it out ........ well i think i did.......lol

but again not 100% sure oh well i might get over it in 30 years if i live that long........lol

making totLLY FALUE accusations 100% untrue!!!!!!!!!!!!

and all i tried to do on here was show some nice coins or what i thought was nice for some coin discussion and to maybe impart some thoughts and get people to think which might help them in some way about coins!

WELL MARK SINCE THE ABOVE THOUGHtS ARE JUST THINKING OUT Loud I WILL NOT SAY THEM HERE...............LOL

BUT MARK I WILL SAY THIS TO YOU

    NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED

THE ROAD TO HELL IS PAVED WITH GOOD INTENTIONS

SOOOOOOOOOO if you want to post get ready for some nasty thoughts and consequinces by others just human nature

i would want you to post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but i was/am just an unknown small person who likes to look at coins and is physically ill that has bever been a dealer nor do i make a living or any part of a living by buying and selling coins and i never been out of rochester to any coin show or coin auction! and coins for me is only one thing fun!! nothing more and i got FLAMED!!!!!!!!

i wonder what they will say about you???????????????????????

but either way i hope you can post on here and hope you can handle some of the dirty nasty fear filled people on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also mark i know you are 100% honest with 100% intergrity but if you post coins from pinnacle or any coins and if they are for sale well so be it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you have to start saying well i am not going to sell it to you for protection of conflick of interest you might as well not post anything on here!!

as once you start qualifying things by tryingh to please everyone then you please no one and you get more people mad at you ...............lol

such is life and human nature

i think if you should post coin photos on here with no reservastions and be prepaired for the worst.........lol

such islife but only if you can handle the heat from some idiots

the more things change the more they stay the same!

    sincerely michael

I'm happy to see cool coin pix. And despite my wallet, I do have some control over my purchasing. image

We may be opening up a can of worms here. Certainly pictures are good and I'm
sure Coinguy1 has some incredible coins to show. This is good. But if someone
sells coins here there will soon be many more. Don't we want some restrictions?

I have to ditto TomB. My concern is not with you and I trust that you really are sincere in you desire to use the post as an educational tool. I also trust that you would abide by the rule that you wouldn't sell these coins to any board member. BUT we've gone through periods in the past where some have, under the guise of "educating" forum members, used this forum to hype and sell their coins. Who is going to act as the forum judge when it comes to making the determination that someone has crossed the line in a post that seems like more of a sales pitch then an attempt to educate (I don't want the jobimage)?

I think TomB's suggestion that you only use archived photos of coins you've already sold for the purpose you described as the best way to avoid this practice becoming an open door for trolls to sidestep the policy of not post coins they have for sale on the U.S. Coin Forum.

  • Coinguy1,

Please do post any coin pictures and details here. I've only been reading these boards for 2 months but already I've learned so much from you and other super members here. I've read many of your recent posts and I don't feel as though you've ever crossed the line to salesman. You possess a wealth of knowledge that we'd be stupid not to make use of. This mornings post was a great example.

    Keep on postin'

PMH, Tom, trime and others who have legitimate concerns about trolls, crossing the line etc. -

I thought about posting only archived coins but quickly realized that they would not be as fresh in my mind and that it would cut down significantly on the possibilities, as we don't save all of our old images. I am also pondering the idea of temporarily removing from our web site, any coins that I post here - I plan on discussing that with the office later today.

Please look at the post of the half cent I put up today and let me know what you think? It is representative of the approach I will take. I plan on posting coins that I have problems with, as well, and not only ones that I like a lot. I think that the collective board is sharp enough to quickly catch on if I or others try to "sell" here. And, I'm also confident that the board will quickly and forcefully speak its mind if it comes to that conclusion.

I appreciate your comments and your concerns and believe me, I thought about things like that before I mentioned the possibility of my posting images for discussion purposes.
  • Mark, post away. Your reputation precedes you and your friends will defend you. What good is a coin forum if we can't see coins and wouldn't we expect you to post coins you are familiar with (own, sold, bought, saw in person, graded, etc.)?

As for the issue of selling to board members or not, I say don't exclude us. It isn't fair to us or you. After all, selling isn't your intended posting purpose.
Buy the coin...but be sure to pay for it.

what half cent,coinguy?...i can't find it...

to those who have concerns about possible conflict of interest...

it's not like pictures of coins posted by anyone in these threads is going to compromise the vital security interests of the government of the United States...

any coin i own that i might post images of here in these threads is always for sale...at a price...
any coin i own that i might tell you all about without posting images is always for sale....at a price

ANY of my coins is for are sale...at a price...if i post an image and/or tell you all about one of my coins and you think you'd like to be the new owner of it,send me an email and make me an offer i can't possibly refuse...

My perception is that coinguy's idea is for all of us to share...and that's a good thing folks because
sharing with no expectation of return...is priceless....image

    where is that half cent,coinguy?

I think posting images where appropriate would be very helpful. I think that a series on grading with pictorial examples would be super! Others could use images to illustrate good examples of CAM, DCAM, errors, just to name a few.
