same ole, same ole

Didn't someone once try to put together an archive of old, repetitive arguments that seem to plague this board?
With this board, it's almost like clockwork that an old issue re-surfaces. If it ain't NGC vs PCGS, then it's raw vs slabbing. Today, the issue is classics vs moderns. And, it seems like it's many of the same folks from last time getting into the fray.
Many folks here think that the NGC site is too boring, that it gets too little traffic. This site seems to re-cycle the same old traffic constantly.
The forum members who've been here a while should know better than to prolong the same fight over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
How did this flare up this time? Let's see. Pinnacle posted something on their web site. Unsolicited, someone here made mention of it in the registry forum. Then, Mr. Pinnacle carried it here and across the street to solicit opinions. Well, opinions were given. Then, it became: ``I don't like what you said, so I must take offense.'' And, ``I don't like your response to my comment, and I take offense.'' And so on and so forth.
Can't we just chill? Who cares if someone says something that we disagree with? Why get all hot and heavy about it? If I did that every time someone else disagrees with me, then I'd be interminably grumpy...
If you really want to be so doctrinaire about matters, then go into politics!
BTW, the best way to make irrelevent an op-ed piece not to your liking is simply to ignore it. The more you try to fight it, the more you bring attention to it and cause it to be in the limelight. That's counterproductive to your cause!

Which simply makes this BBS exactly the same as every other active forum on the net.

fighting..........then the forum moderators seldom step in..........and before it's over, everybody hates each other..........retreating to their corners........until the next brawl..........nobody likes a "know it all"
Anaconda is a great example. Adrian came in and hit the boards hard and got everyone's attention and now everytime he comes onto the forums, he gets challenged. Same thing is happening to homerunhall and others. Many that have come to these boards with interesting topics got ridiculed. Some stayed, fought then left. Others simply left. Just as soon as someone's territory gets threaten or invaded, all hell breaks loose. Ya, I agree, some need to take a back seat for awhile and chill out.
Enough said, I'm out of here.

Same problem in Roman times....the forum was built for entertainment....after a while, it was a place to fight and get executed......

is no real right or wrong side or it's impossible to know which is right or wrong.
We modern collectors merely want to pursue out collections and conversations
unmolested. A few months ago everytime someone posted a modern or a link
to one, or even mentioned one then the thread would get sidetracked about how
inane it is to collect moderns. This still has a chilling effect on the discussion of
these coins, though not to the degree it did. It also has a chilling effect on the
many lurkers who are not so knowledgeable as the most of the collectors here.
<< <i>The last one to post wins.....
I've won alot of those. I don't know why.......maybe some people here thinks I'm nuts!!

I think that's pretty astounding. I think that as an event in our lifetime, that is rivaled only by PCGS grading my 58-D Lincoln cent MS65RB.
Whenever I need perspective, I stare off into space.
